Drug Interaction Report
1 potential interaction and/or warning found for the following 2 drugs:
- amphotericin b cholesteryl sulfate
- Clolar (clofarabine)
Interactions between your drugs
amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate clofarabine
Applies to: amphotericin b cholesteryl sulfate, Clolar (clofarabine)
Clofarabine may cause kidney problems, and combining it with other medications that can also affect the kidney such as amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate may increase that risk. In addition, amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate may interfere with the elimination of clofarabine from the body via the urine. This may lead to elevated blood levels of clofarabine and potentially increased risk of other side effects such as nausea, vomiting, blood pressure changes, anemia, bleeding problems, infections, and liver impairment. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. Contact your doctor if you experience signs and symptoms that may suggest kidney damage such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, increased or decreased urination, sudden weight gain or weight loss, fluid retention, swelling, shortness of breath, bone pain, muscle cramps, tiredness, weakness, dizziness, confusion, and irregular heart rhythm. You should also seek immediate medical attention if you develop signs and symptoms of liver damage such as fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine, light colored stools, and yellowing of the skin or eyes. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
