If you are currently being treated with valACYclovir, you should talk to your doctor before receiving varicella virus vaccine. Antiviral medications like valACYclovir can reduce the activity of the vaccine. To ensure adequate vaccine response, you should not receive varicella virus vaccine until at least 24 hours after you complete your valACYclovir therapy. If you have just been vaccinated, it would be best to wait at least 14 days before using valACYclovir. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
