Psyllium may affect the diagnostic results of fludeoxyglucose F-18. Talk to your doctor before you are scheduled for testing to find out if and for how long you should stop using psyllium so that it does not interfere with fludeoxyglucose F-18 test results. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Psyllium may interact with other medications if given at the same time. This can cause your other medications to become less effective. In general, all oral medications should be administered at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after dosing of psyllium. Take psyllium with a full glass (at least 8 ounces) of cool water or another liquid. Taking psyllium without enough liquid may cause it to swell in the throat and cause choking.
