Minor

succinylcholine irinotecan

Applies to: succinylcholine and irinotecan

Theoretically, irinotecan may augment the pharmacologic effect of depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents due to its anticholinesterase activity. Depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents are rapidly hydrolyzed by plasma cholinesterase, thus inhibitors of cholinesterase may reduce their clearance from plasma and prolong their effect. However, the interaction has not been studied or reported in a clinical setting.

Major Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
