Drug interactions between chloramphenicol and tolbutamide
Interactions between your drugs
Applies to: chloramphenicol and tolbutamide
Using chloramphenicol together with TOLBUTamide can increase the effects of TOLBUTamide, which can lead to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Signs and symptoms of low blood sugar include hunger, headache, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, fast heartbeat, sweating, tremor, and nausea. You may need to check your blood sugar more often or have a dose adjustment to safely take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
