Applies to: anhydrous calcium iodide / codeine and Bonisara (cyanocobalamin / folic acid / pyridoxine / strontium gluconate)

ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Concomitant administration of strontium with calcium-containing products may decrease its bioavailability by 60% to 70%.

MANAGEMENT: Strontium salts should be taken at least two hours before or two hours after calcium products, and preferably at bedtime.

Applies to: Bonisara (cyanocobalamin / folic acid / pyridoxine / strontium gluconate)

MONITOR: Ethanol may increase folic acid elimination and folic acid absorption is decreased in chronic alcoholics. Excessive alcohol consumption may lead to folate deficiency.

MANAGEMENT: Monitoring of patient response to folic acid supplementation if they also consume alcohol regularly may be recommended.

GENERALLY AVOID: Ethanol may potentiate the central nervous system (CNS) depressant effects of opioid analgesics. Concomitant use may result in additive CNS depression and impairment of judgment, thinking, and psychomotor skills. In more severe cases, hypotension, respiratory depression, profound sedation, coma, or even death may occur.

MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of opioid analgesics with ethanol should be avoided.
