Interactions between your drugs

Major

bleomycin brentuximab vedotin

Applies to: bleomycin and Adcetris (brentuximab)

CONTRAINDICATED: Coadministration of brentuximab with bleomycin may increase the risk of pulmonary toxicity. The mechanism has not been described. In a clinical trial that involved use of the two agents as part of a combination regimen, the rate of noninfectious pulmonary toxicity was higher than the historical incidence reported with ABVD (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine). Patients typically reported cough and dyspnea. Interstitial infiltration and/or inflammation were observed on radiographs and computed tomographic imaging of the chest. Most patients responded to corticosteroids.

MANAGEMENT: Concomitant use of brentuximab and bleomycin is considered contraindicated.

Drug Interaction Classification

These classifications are only a guideline. The relevance of a particular drug interaction to a specific individual is difficult to determine. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting or stopping any medication.
Major Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderate Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minor Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
Unknown No interaction information available.
