This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Accutane (isotretinoin)
- omadacycline
Interactions between your drugs
ISOtretinoin omadacycline
Applies to: Accutane (isotretinoin) and omadacycline
Using ISOtretinoin together with omadacycline is not recommended. Combining these medications may increase the risk of a rare, but potentially serious, condition called pseudotumor cerebri caused by increased pressure in the brain. In some cases, this can lead to permanent vision loss. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop early signs and symptoms of the condition such as headache, nausea, vomiting, and visual disturbances during treatment with either medication. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
omadacycline food
Applies to: omadacycline
Do not take iron supplements, multivitamins, calcium supplements, or antacids within 4 hours before or after taking omadacycline. These products can make omadacycline less effective in treating your infection. Omadacycline should be taken at least 2 hours before (4 hours for dairy products) or 4 hours after meals. Dairy products can make it harder for your body to absorb the medication.
ISOtretinoin food
Applies to: Accutane (isotretinoin)
Ask your doctor before using ISOtretinoin together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking ISOtretinoin. You may have unpleasant side effects such as fast heartbeats, warmth or redness under your skin, tingly feeling, nausea, and vomiting. Check your food and medicine labels to be sure these products do not contain alcohol. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
