For Birth Control "I started taking Apri about three weeks ago. It was nothing but a horrible experience for me. From the start, it was nausea, dizziness, throwing up, on-and-off eating habits, some days I could eat, and some days I couldn’t. I had extreme mood changes, I was snappy towards everyone all the time. I had severe cramps that seemed like they would never go away. All of these issues I thought would only last about a week to two weeks, then go away. But they only worsened as I kept taking Apri. I started having pain in my kidney, it started to hurt when I used the bathroom. Then the pain went to both sides and then down my legs. My legs would ache to the point I could barely walk. All I could do was sleep. I’ve never had any other issues with any other birth control until Apri. I do not recommend."

For Birth Control "My doctor put me on this BC 3 months postpartum, and I've decided to stop taking it after being on it for two months. I've bled the entire time being on this pill, mood swings, dark thoughts, very emotional, nauseated all the time, the bloating is so uncomfortable (prior to starting this pill I had my waist back and almost a flat stomach, but now I look like I'm a few months pregnant again!) I have no drive, low energy (I'm sure from bleeding for 2 months), I just want to eat all the time, I've gained weight, overall this BC didn't mesh very well with my body. I'll be going back to taking Enskyce again, which I took for 3 years with no issues."

For Birth Control "I guess it does what it's supposed to, prevents pregnancy! I have been on it for 2 months, and the weight gain in my belly is ridiculous! I've gained 5 pounds. My mood is all whacked out. I plan on quitting."

For Birth Control "At first, I had no problems on Apri. Then, about a month in, I gained over 10 pounds even though I didn't change my diet or exercise. I also noticed that I became very moody and had random crying spells around my period, which has never happened before. My breasts are also very tender and itchy, and my acne has gotten worse. I never had bad period cramps before I started taking this pill, and now they are extremely painful. Hopefully, my doctor switches me to a different pill."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for one month due to hormonal imbalance, so they put me on birth control to regulate me. This pill is bad. I am literally tired 24/7, regardless of how much sleep I get. I am nauseous all the time, loss of appetite, mood swings, and just no energy. We took my kids to the park, and I didn’t even have the energy to play. I also get insane hot flashes where I feel like I’m literally in a sauna. I literally feel terrible and stopped taking it today and plan on contacting my doctor tomorrow. Avoid."

For Birth Control "I have been on Apri for 6 months now. My acne has come back, I have horrible and frequent mood swings. I've gained at least 8 pounds around my hips. I completely lost my sex drive, which is ruining my relationship with my boyfriend. I have horrible cramps the whole week before and during my period, and I get it for at least 5 days. The kicker is, it was the perfect pill for the first couple of months, so watch out. I'm going to the doctor this week to switch."

For Birth Control "This is the worst BC pill I’ve ever dealt with. I have only been on this pill a month, and my mood swings are crazy. I am angry ALL the time, I have been bleeding with terrible cramps, and it’s not worth it. Don’t take this pill."

For Birth Control "DO NOT TAKE THIS BIRTH CONTROL! I was previously taking Yaz and loved it, however, I lost a bunch of weight (eating right and exercising), and the pill couldn’t regulate to my new body. I was having a period for 3 weeks, and my doctor recommended I take this as the same hormones, just a different dose than the Yaz. I have been on it for about a week and have had the worst side effects. My mood swings are constant. I could be fine yet crying for no reason. I had diarrhea for 6 days straight, causing me to now have a hemorrhoid. I’ve always had great, clear skin, and now being on this birth control, I have had crazy breakouts on my chin. I’ve gained 10 lbs in one week and feel like I’m going to vomit at any moment. I recommend staying far away from this."

For Birth Control "This was an awful experience for me. I fell into deep depression, couldn't leave my bed for 14 hours at a time and had really dark thoughts. I became a ball of anxiety everywhere I went, my mood swings were insane. I had a headache that literally lasted for 2 weeks straight and painkillers wouldn't do much, and the nausea I felt like I was going to vomit at the most random times, and every little thing irritated me, so I was being annoying to my boyfriend, my friends, and my family, and I truly felt like I was going crazy. I forced myself to toughen up and at least finish the month (there were like 4 red pills left when I realized I didn't want to do this long term). Now I've reached the placebos, so I'm waiting to get my period and then never touch this medication again. I reacted very badly to Plan B as well, so I'm thinking birth control pills just aren't for my body at all. In conclusion, unless you're lucky enough to not experience symptoms, this can and will mess you up!!!!! :("

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been on Apri for 9 months. I am on birth control to help intense bleeding and an incredibly enlarged uterus. Please keep this in mind while reading my side effects. These aren't typical for Apri. Apri has given me all of the symptoms of pregnancy without the baby. I wake up nauseous, I have night terrors almost every night (waking up bawling, and that's not normal for me), and a strange craving for eggs, whereas I never really liked them before. I also have slight mood swings that aren't so bad that they can't be controlled. However, it has changed my period length from 10-14 days to 4 days, removed all cramping, regulated my cycle, and saved my uterus. It gets a 7 out of 10 from me."

For Birth Control "I had normal, easy, regular periods before starting Apri. Over the course of 2.5 years of taking it, I gained 50 pounds, even with regular exercise and dieting, even though I struggled to gain even 5 pounds before starting Apri. I did not feel like myself emotionally. I finally had enough and decided to stop taking it, and the weight never went away, even with continued diet and exercise. Most importantly: my periods never came back. I started growing dark, thick hairs on my neck, chest, and stomach that also never went away."

For Birth Control "I was on Ocella in the past for years until they took it off the market. I tried several different birth control pills, and none worked for me. Someone recommended I try Apri, it has worked great for me, cleared my horrible acne up, which I was spending a lot of money on trying to correct, doesn't change my mood or sex drive, weight stayed the same, no headaches, no depression, light predictable periods last three days! Let's just say I love Apri, and it's cheap."

For Birth Control "I have been on Apri for almost a year now and only recently decided to switch, not because Apri was terrible. Apri cleared my skin pretty well, I mean I still break out, but it's a lot better. My periods were shorter, and I didn't experience any weight gain at all. I think my boobs got bigger, but I am not sure if that was the pill or just nature because I started it at 18. I can't say if it helped prevent pregnancy because I am not sexually active. My only negative experience with this pill was my mood. I was overly sensitive, and I believe it caused problems for me. My family noticed a huge change in my attitude, so I had to learn to control it, which I can do relatively well now. But I still want to switch to see a more positive change."

For Birth Control "This is my first month on Apri, and I haven't been on any other forms of the pill since I was 18. I was prescribed Loestrin in 2009 for bad cramping and PMS but got off that due to huge mood swings, bloating, weight gain, and breast tenderness. It is now 7 years since then, and I am using the pill mainly for birth control. I am on my third week and am feeling awful! I have had headaches several times per week, extreme nausea, cramping, and tiredness. I have also felt anxiety and will wake up in the middle of the night. I take the pill in the morning but will be switching to a nighttime routine to see if my symptoms decrease or if I tolerate it better. My mood has been pretty normal, and my sex drive is good. The worst thing has been the nausea."

For Birth Control "Made acne worse! If you already have issues with acne, I strongly recommend avoiding this medication. I only took it for 6 days, and my breakouts got much worse. In addition to that, I gained at least 5 lbs in that short amount of time and had mood swings. I specifically asked my doctor for a birth control that would also help with acne. I'm going to ask to be switched to a pill that is an anti-androgenic."

For Birth Control "I started taking Apri birth control about three months ago. At first, it was okay. Now, three months in, and I can’t handle it anymore. I’ve gained 15 pounds, my mood swings are horrendous, I’m severely depressed and literally crying every day, which is unusual because I don’t cry. I got a job promotion and was sad… I just couldn’t be the happy self I knew I was. Cramping is constant. About a month in, I would randomly get sick. My last period lasted two weeks. Massive headaches every single day. I just stopped taking this pill as of today because even my family members were concerned for my mental health. Such a horrible birth control."

For Birth Control "It made me put 20 pounds on! I have had the worst cries of my life, and my sexual drive for my partner is almost gone. Hunger issues: I am always HUNGRY, and the cravings since a week prior to my period are the worst. And cellulite everywhere, even in my arms where I never had any. I am changing it right away."

For Birth Control "I would not recommend this pill to anyone. I have been on Apri for 10 months. I originally went on Apri after having been off birth control for over a year to help regulate my periods and alleviate acne. While it did improve my acne slightly, succeeded in regulating my period, and prevented pregnancy, I had a panic attack within the first 2 days I was on it (not normal for me at all), gained probably 10 lbs in the first 2 weeks-and I watch my diet, has made me gain 30 lbs since then, and the mood swings and depression have been horrible! I know my body and I know how it reacts to birth controls; as I've tried about three other pills, this has been by far the worst. My gyno told me to ignore the reviews online and give it a chance; I shouldn't have listened!"

For Birth Control "My doctor believed I might have endometriosis, so first I was put on the Depo shot. I gained 10 lbs in a month and a half! I bled for three months straight. So I went back to my doctor and she put me on Apri. I was excited to hopefully stop bleeding and potentially lose the weight I gained. I stopped bleeding for a week and I’ve been going on bleeding for week five now. Not spotting. Bleeding. I am super nauseated, extremely moody and emotional, unbelievably hot and sweaty, crazy tired, and have zero sex drive. Oh, and how could I forget my cramps?! Which are crippling and leave me literally crying on the floor. I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, and I can’t wait to change to hopefully something better."

For Birth Control "Apri was my first birth control. I started taking it when I was 17, and I took it for about 5 months. It was a terrible experience for me. I ruined relationships because it seriously made me crazy. The mood swings were awful, and I gained a lot of weight. It worked great for preventing pregnancy, but the side effects were unbearable :("

For Birth Control "Apri works, and it doesn't have a lot of terrible side effects. Within the first month, I experienced some mood swings, and I would get emotional. It cleared my skin and gave me a lighter period, however, I noticed I would sweat out of nowhere, even in air conditioning. Also, after 4 months on Apri, I gained about 9 lbs while doing cardio and eating a healthy diet. In month 4, I noticed an overall fatigued feeling 24/7. I'll have no energy, and I'll wake up tired. Overall, I liked Apri, but I'm switching because of the weight and the lack of energy/fatigue."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Apri for about two years now. It started off good, with lighter periods and no more cramps. My acne went away as well. The past few months, however, my periods have been heavier than before I started the pill, and I have severe mood swings that have affected my life drastically. Apri may be for some people, but it's not for me."

For Birth Control "I was switched from Marvelon to Apri about a year ago. I lost 15 pounds after switching, and after about one month of breaking out, I was back to clear skin again. However, I have noticed a dramatic increase in mood swings with Apri. I constantly find myself crying over the most insignificant things and am unable to control my emotions. I'm worried it is starting to affect my relationship with my boyfriend and with others. I'm thinking of seeing a doctor and perhaps switching to a different pill... seems like it's going to be difficult to find one that keeps my weight, skin, and emotions in check!"

For Birth Control "I have been on the pill for about 3 months, and I am having no negative side effects. I notice I still have mood swings closer to the end of my pack as if I'm PMSing. But I feel normal, my anxiety is under control. My appetite picked up, but I'm on the road to making some better diet changes. Don't listen to all the bad reviews because I've tried numerous birth controls that have made me feel crazy or pain to worsen. This has been a breeze."
