... out now for quite a few years because I dislike taking these drugs. (I am also on Amlodipine 5mg.) I've only just started on it and have not experienced any side effects yet.
My question is: What is the long term prognosis of being on the Tams. It does not shrink the prostate from what I understand but supposed to increase flow, decrease urgency and decrease the nightly bathroom trips. So, does the prostate continue to enlarge and eventually going to require surgery (Turp, etc)? I am almost considering just getting the Turp now rather than taking the Tams and dealing with any of the horrible side effects I've read online.
Let's say the Tams works fine with a few tolerable side-effects - I am 70 years old - so would my doctor just keep me on it indefinitely - perhaps until the prostate enlarges enough to actually require surgery - or perhaps it will NOT enlarge any further?
Thank you in advance for any replies and testimonials

Where is the first part of my comment?
It should begin with: I have been prescribed Tamsulosin .04mg for BPH and just started taking it. My urination has been 4-6/night for a number of years but I dislike taking drugs so I "toughed it out" -
