After operation for the treatment of necrotic wound with abscess on my right hip area, I was given an antibiotic, cefuroxime 500mg. After two days, I was given prescription for another antibiotic, clindamycin 300mg. Reason given was that the results of the bacteria culture was not yet completed.

I am allergic to sulfa-based medications, I went to the doctor and she almost forgot that I had this allergy. I had more tests done, and did not have to see my doctor this time, was prescribed this drug, and I just want to make sure that it is not a sulfa-based medication.

Just to clarify, I am currently taking 2 x 250 mg Cefuroxime tablets, 1 with breakfast and 1 with dinner. I'm hoping to have 2 glasses of red wine with dinner, but am not sure of the consequences.
