I have been on this drug for 2+ years after a triple by-pass. I read with concern the after effects and suffer from some of the side effects. I have asked my doctor, should i carry on with this medication and does not give me any real answers, hence i am still taking it. I would very much like to stop taking this but i need to know what are the warning signals by not taking this drug. I intend experimenting on my own but need to know what i should look for. I am a diabetic and did the same thing with this as no doctors could help., now my levels are controlled by reducing tablet intake and taking long acting insulin once a day and monitoring my sugar levels.
Your help would be appreciated as i am now desperate. regards, Keith

If you'd stop it, you would go back to the symptoms you had that got you on it. You should never experiment with medication on your own. If your doc can't help you, you find another doc, not become your own.
It would be totally wrong for us to comment on whether you can stop taking amiodarone. If your doctor is unsure, perhaps you should make an appointment with a cardiologist and ask. But please don't discontinue it without any advise or without being monitored frequently, once you stop taking it.
