I tried modafinil on two different occasions. Once I took a 100 mg and saw no difference. the second time I took 200 mg after breakfast and half an hour later took a nap that was 2.5 hours long. Not sure if it takes a few days to start working or if it just doesn't work for me.
Provigil - Does modafinil adjust and start showing affects of wakefulness instantly or over time?

Hey there. I was prescribed Provigil a few years ago & it didn't do a single thing for me either. Recently I was switched from Adderall to Nuvigil & surprisingly it has worked really well for me. I am on the max dose of 300mgs & its only taken once daily. It worked from the 1st dose. Maybe ask about your Dr about trying it. Good luck
Just curious what you took Provigil for? I have ADD and fatigue. So far after 4 days I don't feel a difference.
I have actually taken provigil 2 diff times for what I refer to as drug induced narcolepsy cause I take so many meds. After taking it for 60 days each time it did nothing for me. Then I was put on ritalin and again nothing. The first time I was then put on adderall 30 mg once a day. Nothing. Doctor upped it to 60mg 2x a day and finaly was awake. I had no jitters, just felt like my old self. However the second time I was put on it (after ritalin and provigil) it did absolutely nothing. Go figure. Anyway consider asking for ritalin. Don't ask for adderall right away as it is very much an amphetamine (speed) or you will sound like a druggie. If you have questions about my experience let me know.
Yes, it takes a bit of time to build in your system. Though the wakefulness is not like when taking amphetamines, it does promote staying awake. It is best to take on an empty stomach as food slows down the absorption. I take 200mgs in the morning and 100mgs in the afternoon, but this is a bit higher than the recommended.
