Medications for Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

Other names: Polyarticular JIA

Polyarticular Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (Polyarticular JIA) is more severe form of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Polyarticular JIA is  characterized by inflammation in five or more joints within the first six months of the disease's onset, Polyarticular JIA is an autoimmune disease.  PJIA is an autoimmune condition where the body's immune defenses, ordinarily targeting harmful pathogens, mistakenly attack the joints. This leads to persistent inflammation that causes joint swelling, discomfort, and other complications.
Symptoms

Symptoms of Polyarticular JIA include early morning pain and stiffness. Children  may not tell you about their pain or discomfort, but you might observe them limping or displaying an unusual lack of coordination. Swelling is typical, particularly in larger joints like the knees. Other systemic symptoms can include fever, enlarged lymph nodes, and evening-predominant rashes, all indicating the body's ongoing inflammatory response.

The goal of Polyarticular JIA treatment is to improve pain and inflammation, strength and flexibility, and prevent further joint damage.
