For Endometriosis "6 years ago I experienced severe pain caused by ovarian cyst and endometriosis. I eventually had my cyst out but after few months severe pain triggered. I was dying of pain most of the time, until such time I cannot tolerate. August 2008 I was given Lupron Depot. First month was a nightmare for me, I thought I was dying because of extreme bleeding. After that one month my body slowly progress. For three months I had a 3.75mg and after that I was having 11.25mg. I am so relieved that it made me live a normal life. I am pain free and for side effects fortunately not too the extreme. My last shot was done March and supposed to have it last June but due to unavailability of my specialist I am waiting for my next step. So far I am doing fine."

For Uterine Fibroids "I got the LUPRON 3 month shot in January. I’ve had so far now the hot flashes and some abdomen pain and depression and now these headaches I keep getting. The bleedings stopped which that’s the good part. But the headaches gots to go. I don’t like to have to keep taking medication. Those are my only issues."

For Endometriosis "Took the 3 month lupron depot shot just one time. It's now 3 months since I had the shot, my reasons for taking this poison is due to extreme PMDD condition, which I also have endo, but the PMDD outweighs! So all my symptoms since the very 1st week of the injection have been severe hot flashes, night sweats, more fatigue-whole body aches. Just in the last month my hair has been falling out! Very dry, thin now- I'm extremely moodier than before, This was the worst thing I've done & I'm super mad at all these doctors who really have no clue what they're doing to people. We are all their guinea pigs. I went 4 days ago to the doctor & he put me on premaire ( hormone replacement). I'm waiting in misery to see if this added med helps. So far- the new med has had me in tears everyday for no reason, a massive migraine and overall loosing my mind! Never ever take lupron! Just do an internet search on lupron victims."

For Uterine Fibroids "This drug was the worse form of treatment for my multiple symptoms - Daytime hot flashes and steady period was not worth it. I was administered this drug in 2008 and since then my life has never been the same. Forgetfulness covered in laughter by co-workers; poor cognitive skills, no sex drive & no desire to be touched. Headaches, blurred vision; quick weight gain and most of all I quit my job and I'm still try'n to figure out why when I was financially stable. Who was I? Something in my brain is out of sync, I was not a person that took medicines. The Male-doctor pushed this on me & I was a patient with that organization for over 10yrs and I was the only 32yrs old & super active!"

For Endometriosis "This drug ruined 11 years of my life & continues to do so. I was given no addback therapy, nor told of any side effects, only the leaflet to read at home AFTER I'd already been given 3 month Lupron shot & told it will help my excruciating Endometriosis pain. After reading leaflet in it's entirety I immediately called my OB/GYN & asked about addback, Calcium & lots more questions. I was scared of all side-effects listed on the leaflet & wished I had known about them before (I'd have refused) or that I could UNDO the shot! He told me worst that may happen are few hot flashes. My pain worsened, I got OSTEOPOROSIS, lost several teeth & couldn't walk unasisted for 6mths. THIS IS TRULY A HORRIBLE DRUG!!!"

For Uterine Fibroids "Received 3-month shot two weeks ago to stop heavy menstrual bleeding in preparation for a hysterectomy next month. My period started and the bleeding is just as extreme as usual. No relief in blood or pain with this drug. Have experience hot flashes (minor), headaches (minor), night sweats, nausea (moderate), and have pain in upper right back area. Will be seeing doctor later this week to get checked on. I know it's early in the process, but I'm disappointed. I took it knowing about the side effects, but was willing to go along with them to get my bleeding under control and to build up my iron stores."

For Endometriosis "I got my first dose a month ago. The main side effects I am experiencing are hot flashes, much decreased appetite (not complaining there) and fatigue. I will take all those any day rather than deal with endometriosis pain. So I am definitely pleased with the Lupron treatment. Its nice to not be in so much pain. I would call off work and stay in bed and cry. So big difference!"

For Endometriosis "My doctor has me on the six-month regimen. I am on my second month and have had to go to the ER five times since getting this injection. I don't recommend this to anyone I feel ill all the time. Very lethargic, very short of breath, heaviness in the chest, pains in my back and just overall horrible. I had my right ovary and fallopian tube removed due to severe endometriosis and the doctor recommended these injections and said I would have no problem and no buddy that she has treated his head any severe side effects so I guess I get them all. I've missed a lot of work almost losing my job because I just can't function on a day-to-day basis because of the medication. For any of you considering taking this medication please don't it is nothing but toxic"

For Endometriosis "2/9/12 I had a full hysterectomy (uterus and cervix removed) due to fibroids. My Dr found endometriosis everywhere. My Dr. put me on Lupron about a month after the surgery and I had my 2nd shot 4/20/12. I got hot flashes right after the first shot but they are really not that bad. Night sweats are more uncomfortable and my joints and muscles are achy and stiff. However, my mood is pretty terrible. I have no patience for anything and feel pretty grumpy most of the time. My pain is lessening but still present. That said, if I can be rid of most of the pain after the 6 months regimen, it will have been worth it! "

For Endometriosis "I have been on the Lupron for about a year. Last year I had 6 monthly injections. The pain that I was experiencing before taking Lupron was horrible. Within 3 weeks of being on Lupron I was pain free with very minimal side effects. One of them was weight gain. For me the weight gain was way better than the pain that I was experiencing before! I went off the shot for about 6 months and the pain returned. The second time around I received a 3-month injection. The pain got worse the first couple of weeks then it was gone again. Now I feel like I can live a normal pain free life again. Still very minimal side effect. This drug has been a life saver for me! I read so many horrible reviews of this drug but honestly its been a huge relief for me!!! I now can function again!"

For Uterine Fibroids "I wanted to share my story also for people who are considering trying this out. I had big fibroids and was scheduled for a laproscopic hysterectomy. My doc put me on Lupron for 4 months before the hysterectomy. She felt it would help me in hopefully shrinking my fibroids down to help with surgery. She wanted me to take the 3 month dose. I am very scared of side effects and really don't like taking anything. I did my research and decided I only felt comfortable taking the once a month lower dose Lupron shot. I was afraid to even try that. I was on Lupron for 4 months and I did bleed for the first month on it and then my bleeding and periods stopped after the first month. My only side effect was HOT FLASHES! But as time went by they seemed to get a little better and they calmed down some. It wasn't too bad, but definitely uncomfortable at times. Thats all though! So happy that I moved past my fear and tried it. It helped stop my periods and I was able to get the laproscopic hysterectomy done."

"Despite all the negative reviews for Lupron, this drug has been great for me. I got the shot 3 weeks ago, as part of my treatment plan for breast cancer. Lupron stopped my heavy cycles and put me into menopause. Being in menopause means that I can take a more effective drug for preventing the recurrence of breast cancer. The shot was painless. I have occasional joint soreness (quickly relieved by tylenol), but nothing that's unexpected for someone who's 48! Hot flashes have been minimal. Even though I have been laid up with a ruptured Achilles tendon, my weight gain has been minimal. If you are prescribed this drug...please don't be afraid."

For Endometriosis "I received my first Lupron shot a couple weeks ago. In the past two weeks I have noticed that my pain isn't as bad or as often and it was before the shot. The down side is the mood swings and hot flashes. I thought I had a few weeks before I started experiencing the side effects, but I guess not. I know that the next six months are going to be rough, but the way I see it...I've been suffering for five years already, what is six months of hell to help make it all go away? In my opinion, the Lupron shot is worth it."

For Uterine Fibroids "I’ve been on Lupron depot for 4 months for heavy bleeding from a fibroid and extreme pain due to endometriosis. It has stopped my uterine and heavy bleeding and I have increased energy from not being anemic any longer. However, I have experienced hair loss, generalized whole body muscle pain and stiffness. As well as hot flashes, extreme jaw tension and teeth grinding at night and occasional insomnia."

For Endometriosis "I've been suffering with very painful mensuration and chronic pelvic spasms for over 20 years. The first time I did Lupron is was a god sent, finally I didn't have to plan my life and work around my period. Now I'm on a second round. I'm using the 3-month injection and I love life. Yes, I have hot flashes and I can be a bit emotional at times, but I'm not in pain and that is what I was going for. I'm 42 now, and I'm hoping I can stay on this medication, until I'm 50. I would really hate to go back to having to deal with this again."

For Endometriosis "The side-effects have lasted years and Lupron itself caused depression. And I gained over 40 pounds rapidly within three months after use. It gave me seizures, and I had blackouts on TOP of the usual side-effects. I was hospitalized for three days because of the seizures. NOT worth it! I'm still plagued by the ungodly side-effects every single day! Worst decision I ever made. NEVER again!"

For Endometriosis "At first I really thought the Lupron treatments where worth it, but now that I have made a trip to the Emergency Room. Well lets just say if you are going to go the route of Lupron you better be single. This drug takes its toll on the family, not just you. Everyone goes throw the mood swings, headaches, blood pressure scares, joint pain, feeling like you are going to pass out. So no taking your kids to school or sporting events. No joining car pools. Don't get to far away from the restroom, urinating more often is not unusual. The things that are the easiest to handle are the hot flashes, night sweats and chills."

For Endometriosis "I was actually surprised to learn I had stage 4 endometriosis along with 2 endometrioma's and a dermoid cyst. I had always had a poochy gut and severe menstrual cramps since I was 16. I am 27 now and have been pain free for the last 5 months on Lupron Depot. I had a laproscopic cystectomy and a laparotomy this year. I did suffer side effects of hot flashes and mood swings but was prescribed 1mg estrogen daily and I'm pretty much normal! In about 6 weeks I will begin trying to conceive my first child! The Lupron and my Doctor have been a blessing!"

For Uterine Fibroids "My rating is based SOLELY on symptoms, I am unsure about the effectiveness being that I haven't checked my fibroid size yet to see if it has suppressed. To furthermore explain, I was diagnosed with a large fibroid about 10cm (outside my uterus) through a CT scan. I'm 28, no children, but hoping to conceive in my early 30s, therefore I chose to go on with the Lupron shot (3.75) to hopefully shrink the fibroid for surgery early next year. After reading the side effects, I was terrified and put this off for a year and a half. I have had ONE symptom and that is I do notice that my (face) is a bit clammy/dry. Just wishing I never put it off due to fear. I just finished my first month. Will update how month 2 went in January!"

For Endometriosis "I am only on one week into the Lupron and my pain has begun to, not ease, but not be as sharp as it was at all times. I can finally breathe and think before the next stabbing pains begin. But about two days ago I got mood swings. I seem insane, I'm fine then, I'm screaming. I'm only 17 and this is NOT what I need along with the disease. I hope it gets better for I wont have any friends at the end of the six months."

For Prostate Cancer "I'm 57 and diagnosed in Apr with tumor confined in one lobe only, a Gleason of 7 (3+4), and a PSA of 9.22. I received a 4 month, (30mg) injection on May 19 and started radiation on June 21. As of this writing I'm into my 8th week on this drug. So far my side effects have been minimal with very mild hot flashes, (about 2-3 times a day but very subtle), loss of sex drive and some ED at this point. I get about 6-7hrs decent sleep a night, haven't had to get up to pee in the middle of the night much, no vision, confusion, brain fog issues, ect as others describe but I'm not long term therapy either. Doc said the 'kick-in' with side effects is typically at the 3 week point so, so far, I'm doing pretty well. Doc says I should regain most, if not all, my ED function when the drug wears off after the 4 month time frame. A definitive change in my diet and exercise has also helped a great deal with limiting my side effects. Hope this helps anyone in similar circumstances."

For Endometriosis "I want to share my experience with this drug because I truly believe it's of utter importance. My first BC was Depo PROVERA. I bled right through this, and yes it's common for the first year, also lighter periods. But mine never went away, then brown bleeding. I was switched to the implant, for other reasons, and the same problem still occurred. Then I was put on BC pills to control the bleeding process. All in all, I was backing up my uterine wall with more blood every time I had a period. Depo Lupron was injected on Jan 18 I bled out all my old blood in a week. I have not had a period or brown bleeding since. My last shot was given March 18. So far, 0 breakthrough bleeding. I love Depo Lupron"

For Endometriosis "Only a few weeks in and I already hate this. I’m 19 and was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis. My doctor said the Lupron shot is my only option in regards for treatment, before a hysterectomy. I’ve been on birth control for 5 years prior for intense pain but it didn’t help at all. 2 weeks in, my bones hurt, I’m constantly hot and nauseous. Depression I feel is on its way. I can’t stop crying and I feel very sad about life. Which is unlike me, I’m a very positive person. My pain is also more intense than before. I feel very helpless because I don’t want to have a hysterectomy at 19 but I hate this medication already. I don’t know what else to do"

For Uterine Fibroids "This is user Jennybean from the review below (August 12, 2020). I could not log in with that username so here's my update: I got my first injection on 08/14/20. Ultimately I am getting the 3 month 11.25MG Kit. So I assume I will get 2 more shots. I got the shot in my butt cheek & did not hurt or flare up. The side effects for me so far: A couple short lived hot flashes here and there. Fatigue & my boobs are sore (like before a period and wearing a bra sucks as a result). These effects are medium-mild & are not overwhelming. I'd say the fatigue and breast tenderness are the most bothersome. I expect I will be adding to my list of side effects as we go on. The last thing I'll add is that my biggest fibroid is 7cm and my uterus never shrunk after I had my preemie son at 28 weeks pregnant. So basically, I STILL look six months pregnant 6 years later. That's why I'm on this medicine. I need to shrink my uterus and fibroid in order to have a less invasive partial hysterectomy (leaving my ovaries)."

For Endometriosis "I was diagnosed with stage 1 endometriosis after I had a laparoscopy. My doctor suggested lupron depot for six months (2 shots). I have been on lupron depot for almost 3 months where it is time to get my second shot. I am almost sure I will not get the second shot. I am in worst pain than I was before the shot and I have had NON STOP bleeding. You are not supposed to be bleeding while on lupron especially for three months. I have an appointment with my doctor soon about my next step. The medicine is supposed to rid you from pain-but for me it caused it to worsen. In regards to other side effects such as hot flashes, depression, mood swings, etc I don't have any of that! Bottom line, I wish I never would have got this medicine."
