Mononessa (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I love Mononessa. I used to have extremely painful cramps, I would have to miss work and school because I was in so much pain, and Mononessa has definitely helped. At first it didn't seem to help with the cramps so I went back to my doctor and she uped my dosage. My periods come on the exact same day every month which is really nice. I definitely don't have as heavy of a period and it normally lasts 3-4 days. I do seem to be a little more emotional the week before I start but I never had any weight gain/loss issues with it.
Ortho Cyclen (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I've been on Ortho Cyclen for 17 years for oral contraceptive reasons and it is working wonderful! No side effect. Although I tried to take the generic to offset some cost but I had terrible breakthrough bleeding. I quickly switched back to name brand and was cured! So I'm still on brand name Ortho Cyclen with no problems at all. Quite happy!
Review by Dora Marie (taken for 6 months to 1 year):
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I took Tri Sprintec for a year and though it was effective, the side effects were horrible. One being the fact that I naturally have a heavy and long 7 day period. There was no change in length nor flow of my cycle. The second and worst side effect would be that I was constantly nauseous even after the first three months. The pill changed my taste buds and made eating (something I Love) hell!
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: Was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo 4 yrs ago for 2 years, kept a healthy diet and exercised. Gained a little weight, but just on my girly parts! Very mild PMS, reg and moderate periods. Had a baby last year and used the mini pill for 9 months. Only been on Tri Sprintec for 6 weeks and right away I noticed side effects. It wasn't until I read some reviews that I realized I was getting hives from it. I have pretty bad allergies so I thought that was why. I am a very optimistic person and anytime I feel in a bad mood I do any/ everything to come out of it. It seemed like I was constantly TRYING to pull myself out of a funk. Also, noticed a decrease in appetite and libido. The positive is clearer skin- except for one recent breakout, it's FREE and I'm not pregnant.
TriNessa (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: Over 2 months...I've gained 10lbs, awful mood swings, headaches (which I never used to get) and fatigue. I switched to this to help with my spotting but I feel like I'd take the spotting over this any day! Not happy.
Review by Acne at 31 (taken for 6 months to 1 year):
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Acne: Since having my last child at age 27, my acne has been out of control. Serious cystic breakouts (forehead, chin, temples). When they just about heal up, BOOM, here comes the new ones. I have tried it all, literally. I did lemon juice, baking soda, vinegar, herbs, masks, lotions, pH balancing washes etc. NOTHING worked. I was so sick of it. At 30 I got Tri-Sprintec. The results were amazing. 1st month, I noticed the breakouts weren't as severe (but still there). 2nd month, I noticed the inflammation was better, still a few break out spots. 3rd month, I noticed I barely broke out (just on my temple area and one spot on my chin). 4th Month-NO MORE BREAKOUTS!
Mononessa (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Abnormal Uterine Bleeding: I have been told I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, my period was never normal. If go to a year without bleeding then all of a sudden I started bleed for 5 months straight. Being overweight my doctor told me I would have to take two Depo-Provera shots so I did. I continued to bleed heavy and hard and very painful so I decided to find another doctor and he prescribed my Mononessa. I stopped bleeding in one week and when it was time to take the last 7 pills I was nervous to take because I didn't want to bleed but my period came and it was so light no cramps just a little moody. So glad I finally found something that truly works for me.
Tri-Previfem (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I am currently taking the last of my second pack and I feel like my sex drive has been lost... I'm not sure if it's this particular brand or not, but ever since I started taking it, I have felt no desire for sex. I am soon going to consult with my doctor to switch, Also, it gives you your period for a week which I do not like.. Had pretty heavy bleeding my first period, guessing I'll have the same with my next cycle. It works differently on everyone, but for me, it doesn't seem to be the right choice.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I am currently on my first pack of Ortho Tri-Cyclen and am not sure whether this is the pill I will stay with or not. I definitely noticed a big change in my irritability while taking this, and my mom even confirmed that my personality has been affected. I have also been worried that it has made me gain a little weight, or just made it harder for me to lose weight this month. I started taking levothyroxine at the same time, and really should be losing weight. Also, I have noticed a change for the worse in my hair and my nails- so...that seems like a lot of side effects. I was staying on the Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo because I have been reading that it takes up to 3 months for the side effects to go away.
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I have been on this pill for about a month in a half. I gained 20 pounds in about a month without changing my diet. I have been a complete antisocial freak who doesn't want to do anything besides sleep and be alone. My period was terrible and I went from having sex with my boyfriend 2-3 times a day to 2 times a week. I have been to a therapist because of how emotional I've been and I have wanted to drop out of college. The only "semi" good thing about this birth control is no babies and huge breasts. I went from a C to a DD which my boyfriend loves but me not so much. I am getting off of it.
Mononessa (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: All in all, Mononessa has worked very well. I've been taking it for about a month, I'm just getting into the green colored tablets. I woke up at 4 am the second day throwing up but ever since then I haven't been nauseated. I have pretty bad acne, it hasn't really helped. I was hoping it would. But I haven't been overly emotional (no more than usual, that is) & it seems like my period is going to start right on time. It's great. I tried Yaz before this one and I spotted for a whole month. Was not going for that. But anyways, yeah, Mononessa's great! Glad I'm taking it now.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I've been on Ortho- Tri Cyclen Lo for a little over a year now. I had a positive experience with it when I was a teen so I wanted to try this again. At first I loved it. Now I have acne, which I've NEVER had a big problem with, crazy mood swings, and a low libido (not to mention vaginal dryness...) Hoping maybe a few more months will get me over this bad spell. I would love to continue taking it because this birth control has never let me down.
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Acne: I would just like to say if you're looking for a solution for you're acne PLEASE try this. I have been struggling with acne for a few years, I have tried everything from over the counter to prescribed medicine and NOTHING worked. Finally I decided to get on the pill because I had very deep painful cystic acne along my jawline and chin that wouldn't go away. I have been on Sprintec for 2 months now and my skin is 100% clear. Only time I get a pimple is around my period but it is so much more manageable. Trust me this pill is my magic pill.
Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I am 19, in a relationship and have been on Sprintec for 3 months now and this has been the only birth control pill I've tried. This pill has been extremely effective when it comes to preventing pregnancies unfortunately I have had several side effects. At first it started off as frequent headaches and then dizzy spells and then increase in mood swings. The dizziness and headaches. Everything else is good, the Acne and the weight and stuff are normal for me but the mood swings are killer. I have irrational anger and crying outburst. I have started attacking my boyfriend when I'm angry.
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I was on Tri-Sprintec for 2 months and it completely cleared my cystic acne. I had terrible, terrible acne for about 7 years before that and it completely scarred my cheeks. it even seemed to help with the scars a bit. I also lost a bit of weight on this pill. The only problem I had was that I would get a 2 day migraine on the first pack of pills. I switched and realized the headaches were a lot better than the other medicine so I am now switching back to Tri-Sprintec. This is by far the best birth control I've been on.
Tri-Previfem (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I used to take Tri-Sprintec but my pharmacy switched me to Tri-Previfem. I have been on it for about a year and at first it was alright but after a few months, I noticed things were starting to change. I started feeling depressed, developing anxiety, and I noticed my libido was declining. I didn't really think much of it but now, it is getting worse and worse. I have been having anxiety attacks, which I never had before taking this. I have been more depressed than ever before. And don't even get me started on my libido. I am only 21 and I never want to have sex any more. I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years and I used to always want to do it. Now, it seems like I have to force myself to do anything and I shouldn't have to do that.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: First time on birth control and I started with this one mainly because I had terrible cramps and period side effects. Doctor recommended Ortho Tri-Cyclen and I have been using it for 4 months now. Can't complain about the pill. My face has significantly become clearer. Still have pretty bad cramping though. My period now lasts about 4-5 days versus the 6-7. I Also had weight gain. Gained 15lbs in a matter of 3 mths. I am 5'8 and normally weigh 115 so for me it wasn't a big deal. I definitely felt my breast a lot heavier too. I rarely suffer from headaches and this pill made me get one almost every other day, which was annoying and uncomfy. Had to switch due to break through bleeding though, Either Azurette or Lutera.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I took Ortho Tri-Cyclen from when I was 16-20 years old the first time, and I recently started taking it again 2 months ago. Both times, I experienced an increase in cup size (~2 cups), which was nice, but I think part of that is connected to weight gain. After I switched to a different birth control the first time, I dropped about 7 lbs. over the course of a few months. I then stopped the other birth control because I was having some bad side effects and dropped another 10 additional lbs., but on the downside my breast size decreased to an A (the size it was when I was 17 prior to taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen). Now that I have been taking it for two months, I have definitely not felt like myself and have been depressed & unable to concentrate, and have gained 7 lbs.
Ortho Tri-Cyclen (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I've been taking this pill on and off for a while now. I say about a year. And until I read everyone else's review I've notice why I was moody for a while. Depression was bad I always thought my boyfriend didn't want me. My sex drive went up. I think my over all attitude was kind of trashy. Even if things were going ok the brighter side wouldn't make my day. I like it because I'm never questioning if I'm pregnant but it's best not to miss any pills where you have to take more then one at once because I became really sick...Hours of constant up chucking. I didn't notice no weight issues.
Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Acne: I have just completed one pack of the Tri-Sprintec. I was prescribed Ortho but was given Tri-Sprintec due to insurance. I am 30 years old and have not had any major acne in years. The last major outbreak I have had was when I was 24. I would still get the occasion 1-2 acne but it would only occur every several months. This month has been horrible on Tri-Sprintec. I've had at least 20+ acne spots on my face. I've tried to used multiple products to clear it up to no avail. It is all hormonal cystic acne that is mainly concentrated around my mouth area/chin and they all leave scarring. I'm honestly not sure if I can last 3 months on it to see if it will get better for me. I do not normally break out so this terrifies me!
Tri-Previfem (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I am on Tri-Previfem and it's been about 7 weeks and I've already consulted with my doctor to change birth control. Overall my experience on Tri-Previfem was awful. I bled the entire first month and now on my second month it's causing me to have painful intercourse.
Tri-Previfem (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I've taken this pill for two weeks now and I've had a constant migraine. I just had a baby three months ago so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. Also had very heavy bleeding for a week then it would stop and start again. Also I'm very moody and sad where I wasn't before I started taking this medicine. If I still have migraines at the end of this pack, I may switch.
Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I've been on this birth control for almost a year. I started on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a little under a month it gave a period that didn't stop until I switched to Sprintec. I have close to zero side effects on Sprintec. It has been amazing for acne, my face is really clear now. No weight gain. I do have a really active sex life . I have been on antibotics for bladder infections and not gotten pregnant. The only thing I have noticed I do tend to shove people away when its close to my period. Not every period though. I've only experienced cramps one period in my life which was a couple of months ago, but I think it was due to stress. Also before this medication my periods were very irregular now they are always on the dot.

Tri-Sprintec (ethinyl estradiol / norgestimate) for Birth Control: I love Tri-sprintec! It has regulated my cycle and cleared up my skin. The first couple of months I was a little nauseated when I took it, but that has gone away. This pill helped to balance out my hormones and actually helped me to lose weight. No complaints other than the 1-2 nights of nausea I experience when I start a new pack. Oh, and it's FREE.
