"I switched to this birth control after being on the generic Yaz for several years. I've since stopped getting a period all together and my doctor says this is due to the low estrogen in the birth control. I was very concerned and even got an ultrasound and bloodwork done which came back normal. I'm hesitant to switch birth control just to get a period because I'm having no other negative symptoms."

"I was on Nikki for about 6 months before I switched. If I forgot to take my pill at night and then took it first thing in the morning my period would start, and continue for the rest of my cycle regardless of where I was in the pack. My periods were incredibly heavy especially during the last few days. Cramping was worse than usual, and I often bled through at night if I didn’t change every few hours. This pill increased my PMS symptoms and left me VERY anxious and paranoid the week before my period started. On the bright side my acne went away."

"I have been on Nikki since January. Throughout my time on Nikki, I’ve had my period 3 weeks out of the month, gained 15 pounds, and have had more anxiety than I’ve ever had. I have to take my Birth Control within the same hour everyday or else I get my period. I’m not sure if this is normal or not. It’s been 5 months and I’ve had no change. On the other hand, my skin has been clearer than ever before."

"I would never recommend this to anyone, I've never been on BC before, but needed to go on it due to sex and painful periods. I’ve had relatively clear skin most of my life, and was told this would make it better, but it’s done the opposite. My skin is AWFUL - red, irritated and bumpy. Not to mention the depression, I can’t remember the last time I was happy. I've only been on the pill for two months, but I'm quitting after this pack. Never in my life have I been a suicidal person, but I'm directly on the edge right now. This pill has probably been the worst thing to happen in my life. Two months ago, I was a ray of sunshine, I was relatively skinny and had great skin. Now, I'm moody everyday, depressed as anything and have the WORST skin, and think I may have burned a few bridges. I would stay away from this bc at all costs. at this point, I’d rather be pregnant than dealing with this garbage"

"I have been on this birth control for about a year now. I don't know if it's my reaction to it, but I just feel so angry all the time. I've switched birth control many times but I know its definitely not the worst I've been on."

"I first started this pill 6 months ago. It cleared up my acne very quickly. However, continuing the pill, I became very moody and anxious about everything. I have also experienced some weight gain and major cravings, and while I am very active, I found it hard to resist cravings and work out more. I have become very tired, pissed off, and unmotivated. I am in high school and there is no reason for me to feel any of these symptoms, but it has messed with my hormones terribly. Before BC, I would have up to 5-day-long light periods. Now, I bleed up to a week and a half, heavier than before also. I do not recommend; the only positive factor is clear skin (and not getting pregnant I guess)."

"I am just now into my third week of this medicine. The first week I was nauseous and had a headache and just felt terrible. This past week I have been so unbelievably irritable. I have three small children and just can’t be the moody single mom. I have to be here for my kids emotionally. I have noticed my patience decreased and my anxiety increased. I’ve been more down than usual. I have ZERO sex drive with my boyfriend which is completely unusual. And I’ve also wanted to EAT everything! The main reason for this medication was to regulate my periods because I have a small fibroid. I’ve noticed a lot less pain from that and no bleeding so far. But I’d honestly rather have that than all these side effects. I do not recommend this medication. It has been awful."

"This pill was fine at first.. but it gave me so much anxiety after about a month. I don’t recommend this to anyone anymore. My depression has become so bad and the weight gain is out of control. i’ve never had this experience with birth control so I don’t recommend this to anyone that’s suffering with anxiety already. It is effective in the sense that it will prevent pregnancy, but the effects are ridiculous so please be safe if you use this!"

"I started this birth control and it made me nauseous I gave it another week. 2 weeks in it gave me diarrhea and my mood was through the roof. I was always so angry anything set me off and I'm normally not like this. It was a horrible experience, but hey I didn't get pregnant but maybe because I was a monster on this pill lol. It works for others but definitely not for me."

"I have a mostly love / tiny bit of dislike relationship with Nikki. I took it for 6 months and my acne was not only cleared but my skin was GLOWING. After 6 months though, I realized my libido wasn't quite what it used to be so I stopped taking it. After a few weeks libido was back to normal BUT I had started gaining weight and my acne came back with a vengeance. I just started taking it again after a few months off and I'm glad I did. Going to try to balance my libido with some supplements instead. Previously I've been on Reclipsen (which I loved, zero side effects) until they stopped manufacturing it, then had a Paragard for many years but my body kept forcing it out (too big). Everyone's different of course! Just my experience."

"If you are slim and petite, this is not the drug for you. This drug completely ruined the way I see myself; it made me extremely depressed, gain up to seven pounds in one week, anxious, interrupted my ability to focus, and destroyed my self confidence. The only plus side is that it keeps your skin clear. The nature of Nikki is not a diuretic, therefore you do not lose any water weight. While still eating the regular amount of food I consume, I still gained weight from the shift from a different drug. I 100% do not recommend this to anyone, and wish I never took it."

"My experience is similar to everyone else. I was on Gianvi for YEARS but then my pharmacy switched me to Nikki. I’ve been on it 3-4 months now and I’m happy to say I’m never going back. I became a lunatic on Nikki - strong mood swings, emotional, crying. I’ve been retaining water. And worst of all my acne is horrible. I had bad acne as a teenager but when I went on Gianvi it went away. Now on Nikki I can count on having at least 6 cystic pimples on my cheeks (I’ve never broken out on my cheeks before) at any given point in time. Not a good substitute."

"I've been on at least four different types of birth control throughout a span of eight years, and Nikki is by far the worst one I've tried. I find myself constantly nauseous, moody, and I really haven't felt like myself since starting Nikki three months ago. Does NOT help with acne, bad period cramps, or spotting/heavy bleeding. This is a very problematic birth control and it shouldn't be recommended by any doctor, ever."

"Ever since starting birth control, I have used Gianvi. I recently switched pharmacies, and the new pharmacy gave me Nikki instead of Gianvi (the new pharmacy is not eligible for Gianvi). After the first week of using it, I have already experienced: - headaches throughout the day - depression/mood swings - weight gain - inability to concentrate/focus - fatigue I am only on day 6 of this and have already called to switch back to my previous pharmacy so I can get Gianvi again."

"Nikki was the worst experience of my life. I was reluctant to go back on a birth control as my experience in the past has been negative. I took Nikki for 13 days. On day 9, I had severe heartburn that turned into vomiting, cold sweats, feeling full when I had nothing in my stomach for almost 24 hours. The next day I was weak, depressed and had a raging headache. Initially I thought I’d gotten food poisoning but the symptoms persisted. I am nauseous all the time, headaches throughout the day and completely exhausted. I would have one or two bites of light meals and immediately feel sick. Not only that, but my anxiety is through the roof. I’m not normally a very anxious person but this medication is making me paranoid, mean, and sad. Don’t let you doctor prescribe it. Find something better."

"I was switched to this from Vestura because Walgreens stopped carrying it. I didn't notice much of a difference. Seems to work fine (not pregnant), I get the occasional headache, and my period has remained regular and has become very light. Don't ever spot or get crazy acne. I like that the Vestura came in a little pouch and this one is a pack with a cardboard flip front."

"I just wanted to post this for the ladies who are taking loryna and your pharmacy now keeps giving you Nikki. Switch pharmacies and save yourself the time and heartache. I took Nikki for two months and just switched to Walgreens to get Loryna back. My hormonal acne came back, cramps, and I gained weight! I was using it for birth control but if it’s going to make me a chunky, acne covered psycho I don’t think having sex will be an issue. Stick with your yaz/loryna girl!"

"If I could rate this pill with a negative number I would because I ended up with a blood clot. I have been on Yaz or Loryna for the past 10 years or so with no issues. Two months ago my pharmacy switched me to Nikki for whatever reason. Within 3 weeks of taking it I had a pulmonary embolism and the doctors are fairly certain the cause was my birth control. Nikki is dangerous....don’t take it."

"This birth control is life changing, both in positive ways and negative. My hormones have completely straightened out more than what I was experiencing prior to starting this birth control back in February. Acne is cleared, the facial hair that has been growing has subsided. However....the negative part of this birth control...at least for me...is how reliant my emotions and mentality are on this prescription. I've forgotten to refill my prescription once and I was off of the pill for 5 days, I missed 5 days and I was so crazy, insane, so much crying to my boyfriend, everything was wrong and off for me. I'm definitely more careful with this prescription and I take it regularly with my other meds every single morning. Just be careful to not miss days! Other than that this has been the best birth control I've taken so far."

"I’ve been on Nikki for a month and it is awful. Severe depression, bloating, can’t lose weight, GAINED weight. I missed a single pill and I’ve been spotting now for a month and the whole reason I was put on this rubbish was to control my period. I’ve had enough."

"I started Nikki about 3 1/2 weeks ago, I swapped off of Slynd because it was the worst thing to happen to me. My weight has fluctuated so much so it’s hard to tell if I lost weight but I definitely feel better about myself. My skin was really bad the first 2 week and I've recently had bad skin which is why I switched to this pill. Not even but one little blemish on my face and I feel great. It is hard to tell on emotions because my last ones affected them so much but I am happier. I hoping to lose weight on this pill instead of gaining."

"Nikki overall has been good, but has not been the right birth control for me. Benefits: My skin has never been much of an issue (I would only break out around my period) but this birth control completely cleared my skin. I don’t remember the last time I had a painful pimple. My moods have been somewhat consistent. I just get really anxious and irritable the week before my period. The bad side effects that I’ve had are: Heavy flow. It’s so heavy and I’ll go through a super plus tampon in less than two hours. Horrible headaches that last for 2 weeks. They’ve gotten worse the longer I’ve been on this medicine which is why I’ll be switching! I really don't want to switch because of the benefits to my skin but it’s just not worth the headaches and heavy flow for me."

"So far I’ve been taking (Nikki) for 2 weeks now almost 3. So far so good! Only thing I’ve noticed is feeling nausea during the day, I’ve read that, it is normal when starting a new BC pill. I had really bad acne on my back & on my face. I’ve already started to see a difference on my back & I haven’t been taking even a full month yet. I’m hoping that it continues to do good for me!"

"I was fine the first few months, I skipped a couple of periods and then forgot my pills when I was out of town and missed 2. Now have been bleeding for 32 days, despite the fact that I'm continually taking my pill since I forgot. Going to switch meds"
