"Nikki is worst birth control I have used ever, mood swings, anxiety, stress, and I cry for no reason. My period was 18 days late, breast was hurting and felt like I was pregnant. I stop taking Nikki’s and 4 day later I got on my period . Wouldn’t recommend"

"Let me just start by saying I was terrified to start this pill based on all the reviews. I was previously on "mylan" (generic yaz at my pharmacy) then had to switch to a mail-order due to corporate greed. I am happy to report that I have had absolutely no issues with this medicine. My acne is still under control, I don't (and didn't) have an nausea, no weight gain, nothing!! I take this at 8pm religiously and it works great. Be aware if you were not on a birth control previously, I did have some initial side effects with the start of Mylan brand (bloat, heartburn, mild nausea) but that is expected when going on a birth control for the first time. After the initial adjustment period (1 to 2 months) it was smooth sailing and then the switch to Nikki (my 3rd month) it was like I never changed birth control pills."

"Only 3 DAYS in on Nikki and am having acne like I have never experienced in my life. My face has never been this bad. I have never had acne in my life and my face looks like it blew up. I am exhausted. Multiple naps a day exhausted. Can’t get out of bed exhausted. I’m sure it works for multiple people but I’m incredibly unhappy. At this rate I won’t even need birth control my face looks so bad it’s its own birth control "

"NO SIDE EFFECTS!!!! I'm at a loss for words. I'm 35+, so it actually took all these years to actually find a pill that didn't have me sick or looking like a bumpy Nestle crunch bar. Just 1 small thing, it seems to have a diuretic effect and you will be peeing A LOT - LOL."

"If I could give this a zero and wipe the pill off the earth FOREVER I would. I was on Yaz until March, I had an issue with my insurance, and got switched to Nikki. I already have anxiety and depression, all of which were completely under control at the time I switched to Nikki. The first few months were fine with no side effects. About 6 months ago my attitude took an insane turn, my anxiety and depression had reached levels I could not handle anymore. I kept putting it off thinking I was finally just at my breaking point. And now, exactly 1 and half months ago I have not stopped bleeding/spotting. Seriously, not even for one day has it stopped. The past 6 months I've gained near 10 pounds because I can NOT stop eating, the hunger cravings will not go away. I finally looked up all the reviews I possibly could and I'm now seeing how many people are saying the same thing happened to them."

"I took Loryna (another generic form of Yaz) for years without any problems. I got switched to another Yaz generic called Nikki about a year ago and within months started feeling some terrible symptoms like being out of breath with hardly any exertion and nausea. Then my legs started to swell and had terrible back pain. Turned out I had a record breaking sized blood clot from my heart all the way to my legs. I after tests I have no underlying factors such as genetics or Factor V and birth control is the only plausible cause. Careful ladies."

"I've been taking Nikki for a couple months now and it helped my acne so well, I have taken Sprintec and Ortho-Tri-Cyclen before and none helped. Also it has only 4 days of sugar pills thus shorter, lighter and painless periods. I love it ! I sometimes skip those days to keep my skin clear because I tend to break out during period days. I also had very bad side effects with other pills such as headaches, weight gain etc I haven't had any of these with Nikki"

"I have been bleeding for 103 days straight. Not just spotting. Bleeding. I have zero desire so my relationship has suffered. I was prescribed this medication to no longer have periods and to help with cramps. This has helped with nothing."

"I was scared to use birth control pills because my period has never been regular, but decided to give it a try. I haven't had any bad experience with it yet. I did have a difference in my cramps but it was only one day of intense cramps rather than my usual few days of cramping for a few hours each day."

"I have been taking this birth control for years now. About a year ago I had to come off of it for a month or so. During that month my moods drastically changed. I felt happier, had tons of energy, and I was less hungry. I thought for a second that this could be attributed to me stopping Nikki, but I convinced myself it was all in my head. Recently, I inadvertently skipped a week of my Nikki because I left my pills at home while I was traveling. Again. My mood was amazing and I did it feel the need to nap during the day. I thought nothing of it until now. I started taking Nikki again after returning home. It’s been 2 days. I’ve been in the worst mood all day. Crying, angry and depressed for absolutely no reason and a horrible headache. This cannot be a coincidence."

"I have been on Nikki for a week and a half and it completely messed up my stomach. I am always nauseous, always hungry, and I have been having diarrhea. I also constantly have a weird taste in my mouth that won’t go away no matter what I do. I haven’t been spotting or getting headaches but I did break out a lot and I have been very irritable. I cannot wait for this month to be over so I can switch birth controls again."

"My pharmacy ran out of Ocella so ordered Nikki and I hate it. I've had my period from nearly two months straight. I forgot to take it one day and the next day I immediately took two pills. By the next day I started spotting and have my period ever since. With the exception of the one day I missed I've been taking it as instructed every day at the same time and still I have yet to stop my period."

"I had been on Nikki for over a year , and all of the sudden got changed to YAZ. It made me SO grateful for Nikki. While Nikki makes me tired and minor mood swings it doesn’t compare it other birth controls. It kept my acne under control. My periods are short and on time every month. I was switched to YAZ and I was a mess, huge mood swings , period started a week earlier. I wasn’t myself. Trying to get Nikki back!"

"I was prescribed Yaz but my pharmacy gave me Nikki because it's the brand my insurance would cover. I started on Monday and by Wednesday I was having hot flashes, nausea and diarrhea. I take 10 mg of fluoxetine and it was as if Nikki cancelled it out. Thursday I went into a severe depression. I also have very clear skin and I woke up with cystic bumps and inflammation. I have never had major issues with other brands of birth control so I did some research and talked to a doctor. Nikki is linked to gastrointestinal issues and can trigger a gastritis episode in someone who already has digestive issues. I have been taking 300mg of Ranitidine everyday since March and it doesn't seem to be helping since I started Nikki. I have been unable to work the last 4 days. I discontinued use on Saturday. Do not take it especially if your prone to digestive issues, anxiety and depression! I should have considered the negative reviews beforehand."

"I've been using Nikki for 3 months now. It was working great in the first month. A little period when you take the active white pills. My skin was getting so great and clear, thanks for this pill. The only reason that makes me want to switch to another brand is that this pill decreases my sex drive. I get dry quickly during sex and it's unusual, never happen before to me. I'm looking for another brand right now and hopefully, it doesn't do the same thing."

"I’ve been on this pill for about 2 months now and my period has been going for 15 days and counting. It’s been a constant heavy flow with cramps out of this world! This medication is very concerning because I am over all a very happy person but I have gotten severely depressed within the past month to the point where my mind is uncontrollable with bad thoughts. I do not recommend this product to anyone."

"I've taken birth control since I can remember but when my dad lost insurance I was off of it for maybe 6 months and felt the best and was the most happy I had ever been. I started taking Nikki about 4 months ago and I feel like a zombie. I cry at least twice a day and am constantly angry or depressed when nothing is wrong. I am extremely aggressive for no reason. After coming to the internet for help because I could not take this any longer I threw my pills in the trash! It's amazing how much it has changed my life in such a short amount of time. Please, do not take these."

"This medication has made my acne severely worse. I have also been experiencing burning sensations during intercourse after beginning this medication. I am not aware if this is the cause, but my doctor has tested for EVERYTHING else so we are considering this may be the issue."

"I've been on this birth control Nikki for only about 2 weeks. I can already tell the difference in my mood. I'm more irritable now and less of my happy self. I can't even tell when I had my period because I have had heavy bleeding since I started this medication. I am going to finish the pack but after that, I'm done with this medication. I can't keep buying pads for this heavy bleeding. It's definitely not worth it to me."

"I would not recommend this pill to anyone. It straight up tried to ruin my life. iIve only been on this pill for a month and I had normal side effects for the first week (moodiness, nausea, etc.) but as time went on it just got worse and worse. I started to have major anxiety issues which is something I haven’t dealt with in years and it also caused me to have depression that’s gotten so bad in such a short time that my doctor had to put me on anti depressants. I’ve been angry ALL the time for absolutely no reason, it almost ruined my relationship because I would get mad at my boyfriend every single day.over the most stupid things but it was absolutely uncontrollable. This past month I’ve felt like I was going insane. My acne did get better and my period has been a lot lighter but it’s not worth it. I’d rather bleed for the rest of my days than have to go through that again. Just don’t do it. Spare yourself."

"My anxiety level has risen drastically in the past few days of taking Nikki. I was on Loryna which was fine, but the pharmacy gave me Nikki instead recently. It's the only thing that's changed in my life in the past few days and I'm positive I can attribute my increased anxiety to this pill. It's so bad that I've decided to stop taking it. I've never had to do this with a birth control."

"I've taken other birth control pills to treat my acne, and this one is the worst that I've been taking so far and I hope to stop it as soon as possible. The pills significantly decreased my menstrual blood flow. However, I've been bleeding straight for half a month. I doubt if this works on acne. Immediately after taking my first pill, I had another severe acne breakout. I was at my home on spring break and I'm sure the breakout isn't from stress or the lack of sleep."

"I’m 41 and have suffered since my first child with cystic acne and PMD. I’m on my 6th month and am feeling amazing. My cystic acne is gone. I have no PMS symptoms and my period is literally nothing where it was previously heavy clotting and severe cramping. I do take Bupropion for anxiety and maybe that had something to do with not having the mood swings and emotional side effects others described? I’m so pleased with how these hormones have balanced my body. I won’t change or alter this medication!"

"My pharmacy switched me over from Gianvi to Nikki. Since taking Nikki, which has been for about 4 months now, my once clear skin has become a playground for acne. Not only is my skin a problem but my periods, my horrible cramps have come back and I never know when it's is coming. One of the main reasons for being on birth control is to regulate my cycle and also help with my PMDD. I plan things around when my cycle will be and with this I have had to miss wax appointments because my period just shows up randomly. Can't forget to add the headaches, nausea, weight gain, blurred vision and the biggest problem being mood swings and aggression it has caused me. I have found myself becoming increasingly aggressive and that's not me. Thank goodness I went and saw my doctor last week and I have now been switched back to Gianvi, I can't wait to feel back to normal again."

"I want to preface by saying everyone's body reacts differently to medications. Always ask your doctor for extra information on your medicines and things you should keep in mind. I have endometriosis and I have tried Sprintec, depo, and now Nikki. I have woken up at 2:30 am nauseous almost every day for two weeks after starting this pill, and I have vomiting. I know I haven't been on it long but my doc said she'd try to prescribe me a birthcontrol that makes me less nauseous. I read the entire pamphlet that came with the medicine and it says you should get your blood tested for high potassium levels. Make sure to stay super hydrated while on this and you exercise. Those two things have helped me al ot. I'm probably going to switch doctors soon, and hopefully get a medication that actually works."
