Serious side effects
Along with its needed effects, trypan blue ophthalmic may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.
Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking trypan blue ophthalmic:
Incidence not known
- blue color remaining in the eye
- discoloration of artificially implanted lens

Ocular adverse events
- Frequency not reported: Discoloration of high-water content hydrogen intraocular lenses, inadvertent staining of the posterior lens capsule, inadvertent staining of the vitreous face[Ref]
Inadvertent staining of the posterior lens capsule and/or vitreous face was typically temporary and usually lasted up to 1 week.[Ref]
