Trypan blue ophthalmic Side Effects

Applies to trypan blue ophthalmic: intraocular solution

Along with its needed effects, trypan blue ophthalmic may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking trypan blue ophthalmic:

  • Blue color remaining in the eye
  • Discoloration of artificially implanted lens

Frequency not reported: Discoloration of high water content intraocular lenses; staining of the posterior lens capsule and vitreous face (staining of the posterior lens capsule or vitreous face is generally self-limited, lasting up to one week)[Ref]
