Protein C has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with protein C. It is also not known whether protein C can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. Protein C should only be given during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.

There are no data on the excretion of protein C into human milk. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering protein C to nursing women.
