Plicamycin Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Warnings
Brand names: Mithracin
Plicamycin Pregnancy Warnings
Plicamycin has been assigned to pregnancy category X by the FDA. Animal studies have reported histologic evidence of inhibition of spermatogenesis. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Use of plicamycin is considered contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant.
Plicamycin Breastfeeding Warnings
There are no data on the excretion of plicamycin into human milk. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk and because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
