Anthrax vaccine adsorbed Pregnancy Warnings

Anthrax vaccine has been assigned to pregnancy category D by the FDA. Animal studies have not been reported. Preliminary data from female military personnel suggest that anthrax vaccination during pregnancy may increase the risk of birth defects. Pregnant women should not be vaccinated against anthrax unless the potential benefit outweighs risk.

There are no data on the excretion of anthrax vaccine into breast milk. Administration of non-live vaccines is not contraindicated during breast-feeding.
