Amyl nitrite Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Warnings
Amyl nitrite Pregnancy Warnings
Amyl nitrite has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have not been reported. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Amyl nitrite should only be given to a pregnant woman if clearly needed.
Amyl nitrite can cause harm to the fetus when it is administered to a pregnant woman because it significantly reduces systemic blood pressure and blood flow on the maternal side of the placenta.
Amyl nitrite Breastfeeding Warnings
There are no data on the excretion of amyl nitrite into human milk. The manufacturer recommends that due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
