Drug Interaction Report
1 potential interaction and/or warning found for the following 2 drugs:
- burosumab
- Phospo-Trin K500 (potassium acid phosphate)
Interactions between your drugs
potassium acid phosphate burosumab
Applies to: Phospo-Trin K500 (potassium acid phosphate), burosumab
Using burosumab together with potassium acid phosphate is not recommended. Combining these medications may cause excessive elevations in phosphorus and vitamin D levels in the blood, which may lead to increased risk of kidney stones. Over time, you may also have bone and muscle problems as well as increased risk of heart attacks and strokes if the blood levels remain high. Most products containing phosphates and greater than nutritional allowances of vitamin D should generally be discontinued for one week before starting treatment with burosumab. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. During treatment, phosphorus blood levels should be closely monitored, which will allow your doctor to determine when a dose adjustment or an interruption in treatment may be required. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
