Interactions between your drugs
enalapril aspirin
Applies to: enalapril, Easprin (aspirin)
Before taking aspirin, tell your doctor if you also use enalapril. You may need dose adjustments or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. If you are receiving therapy with this combination you should check your blood pressure and may need your kidney function monitored. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor.
omeprazole simvastatin
Applies to: omeprazole, simvastatin
Talk to your doctor before using simvastatin together with omeprazole. Combining these medications may increase the blood levels and effects of simvastatin. This can increase the risk of side effects such as liver damage and a rare but serious condition called rhabdomyolysis that involves the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue. In some cases, rhabdomyolysis can cause kidney damage and even death. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications, or your doctor may prescribe alternative medications that do not interact. Let your doctor know immediately if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness during treatment with simvastatin or similar medications, especially if these symptoms are accompanied by fever or dark colored urine. You should also seek immediate medical attention if you develop fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, dark colored urine, and/or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these may be signs and symptoms of liver damage. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
enalapril efavirenz
Applies to: enalapril, Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil)
Efavirenz may cause liver problems, and using it with other medications that can also affect the liver such as enalapril may increase that risk. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Call your doctor immediately if you have fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark colored urine, light colored stools, and/or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these may be signs and symptoms of liver damage. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
simvastatin efavirenz
Applies to: simvastatin, Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil)
Using simvastatin together with efavirenz can decrease the effects of simvastatin. Contact your doctor if your condition worsens or if your cholesterol levels increase. You may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
efavirenz tenofovir
Applies to: Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil), Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil)
Efavirenz may cause liver problems, and using it with other medications that can also affect the liver such as tenofovir may increase that risk. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
efavirenz emtricitabine
Applies to: Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil), Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil)

Drug and food interactions
simvastatin food
Applies to: simvastatin
Grapefruit juice can significantly increase the blood levels of simvastatin. This can increase the risk of side effects such as liver damage and a rare but serious condition called rhabdomyolysis that involves the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue. In some cases, rhabdomyolysis can cause kidney damage and even death. You should avoid the consumption of grapefruit or grapefruit juice during treatment with simvastatin. Drinking green tea or taking green tea extracts may also increase the blood levels of simvastatin in some patients. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns. It may be advisable to avoid excessive consumption of green tea and green tea products while on simvastatin. Let your doctor know immediately if you have unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness during treatment, especially if these symptoms are accompanied by fever or dark colored urine. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
enalapril food
Applies to: enalapril
It is recommended that if you are taking enalapril you should be advised to avoid moderately high or high potassium dietary intake. This can cause high levels of potassium in your blood. Do not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements while taking enalapril, unless your doctor has told you to.
efavirenz food
Applies to: Atripla (efavirenz / emtricitabine / tenofovir disoproxil)
Taking efavirenz with food increases the amount of medicine in your body, which may increase the frequency of side effects. You should take efavirenz once a day on an empty stomach, preferably at bedtime. Taking it at bedtime may make some side effects such as dizziness, trouble sleeping, drowsiness, trouble concentrating, and/or unusual dreams less bothersome. However, these symptoms may be more severe if efavirenz is used with alcohol or mood-altering (street) drugs. You should avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
enalapril food
Applies to: enalapril
Enalapril and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
aspirin food
Applies to: Easprin (aspirin)
Ask your doctor before using aspirin together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while taking aspirin. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by aspirin. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
simvastatin food
Applies to: simvastatin
Simvastatin may cause liver problems and using it with substantial quantities of ethanol may increase that risk. You should limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Call your doctor immediately if you have fever, chills, joint pain or swelling, unusual bleeding or bruising, skin rash, itching, loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, pale stools, and/or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these may be signs and symptoms of liver damage. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
