Interactions between your drugs

Moderate

rivastigmine trospium

Applies to: Exelon (rivastigmine), trospium

Using rivastigmine together with trospium may decrease the benefits of rivastigmine in the treatment of dementia. Rivastigmine may also counteract the benefit of trospium. Trospium should generally be avoided in patients with Alzheimer's disease or other cognitive problems. Trospium may also adversely affect elderly patients by producing symptoms ranging from mild thinking impairment to delirium. It is important that you tell your healthcare provider about all other medications that you are using including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor.

Drug and food interactions

Moderate

trospium food

Applies to: trospium

Trospium should be taken on an empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal unless otherwise directed by your doctor. You may experience reduced absorption of trospium in the presence of food. This will make it easier for your body to absorb the medication.
