What is it?
Sorbitol Special polyol solution is a specialty plasticizer for the soft gelatin capsule market. Sorbitol special is approved for use in both pharmaceutical and food supplement uses. Sorbitol special contains between 40 and 55 percent sorbitol, and functions to keep the soft gelatin capsule shell pliable.
In soft gelatin capsules, the Sorbitol Special polyol solution also acts as a humectant in the capsule shell. By acting as a humectant, it reduces the amount of time it take for the capsule shell to dry during manufacturing, so that the capsule can be packaged shortly after filling. [1]
