Interactions between your drugs
Applies to: Zantac (ranitidine) and Zinacef (cefuroxime)
Using cefuroxime together with raNITIdine is not recommended. By reducing stomach acid, raNITIdine can decrease the absorption and blood levels of cefuroxime and make the medication less effective against infections. You may need to stop taking raNITIdine while you are being treated with cefuroxime, or your doctor may want to prescribe a different antibiotic. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
