Using iodoquinol together with sodium iodide I-131 can alter the effects of sodium iodide I-131. Certain medications may effect the results of sodium iodide I-131. Contact your doctor when to start and stop therapy with iodoquinol so it does not interfere with sodium iodide I-131. You may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Iodine may interfere with the uptake of sodium iodide I-131 by the thyroid . A diet low in iodine and iodinated salt is recommended before starting therapy with sodium iodide I-131.
