Interactions between your drugs

Moderate

rifabutin selinexor

Applies to: rifabutin and selinexor

MONITOR: Coadministration with potent CYP450 3A4 inducers may decrease the plasma concentrations and pharmacologic effects of selinexor, which is metabolized by the isoenzyme along with multiple UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs) and glutathione S-transferases (GSTs). However, data are unavailable and so the clinical significance of this interaction is unknown. The extent to which other, less potent inducers of CYP450 3A4 may interact with selinexor is unknown.

MANAGEMENT: Caution and clinical monitoring for reduced therapeutic efficacy are recommended with the concomitant use of selinexor with potent CYP450 3A4 inducers. Alternative treatments may be required if an interaction is suspected.

Drug Interaction Classification

These classifications are only a guideline. The relevance of a particular drug interaction to a specific individual is difficult to determine. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting or stopping any medication.
Major Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderate Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minor Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
Unknown No interaction information available.
