Interactions between your drugs

Major

vincristine ↔ posaconazole

Applies to:vincristine and posaconazole

Talk to your doctor before using vinCRIStine together with posaconazole. Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels and effects of vinCRIStine. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or you may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications. You should seek medical attention if you experience increased side effects of vinCRIStine such as constipation, abdominal pain or bloating, difficulty urinating, numbness or tingling in hands and feet, muscle weakness, difficulty walking, hearing loss, seizures, unusual or excessive bleeding, easy bruising, paleness, fatigue, fainting, infection, fever, chills, sore throat, or other flu-like symptoms. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Drug and food interactions

Moderate

posaconazole food

Applies to: posaconazole

Food significantly increases the absorption of posaconazole from the tablet or suspension formulations. The manufacturer recommends that you take the tablet with food and the oral suspension during or immediately (within 20 minutes) after a full meal. If you cannot eat a full meal, you should take the oral suspension with a liquid nutritional supplement like Ensure or an acidic carbonated beverage like ginger ale. Do not take these medications on an empty stomach, as it may lead to inadequate blood levels and reduced effectiveness. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions on how to use the medication properly.
