MONITOR: Coadministration with viloxazine, a potent CYP450 1A2 inhibitor may increase the plasma concentrations of CYP450 1A2 substrates leading to increased toxicity. According to the prescribing information, viloxazine increased the systemic exposure (AUC) of caffeine, a probe CYP450 1A2 substrate, by nearly 6-fold without affecting its peak plasma concentration (Cmax).

MANAGEMENT: Monitor for toxicities of CYP450 1A2 substrates whenever viloxazine is added to or withdrawn from therapy. Adjust doses of CYP450 1A2 substrates as clinically indicated.
