Interactions between your drugs

Major

cytarabine liposomal nelarabine

Applies to: Vyxeos (cytarabine liposomal / daunorubicin liposomal) and nelarabine

The following interaction applies only if you are receiving cytarabine liposomal intrathecally, where the medication is injected directly into the fluid-filled space under the arachnoid membrane that covers the brain and spinal cord.

If you are currently receiving treatment with cytarabine liposomal by intrathecal injection, you should talk to your doctor before receiving treatment with nelarabine. Using nelarabine together with cytarabine liposomal may increase the risk of nerve damage, which is a potential side effect of both medications. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop symptoms such as extreme sleepiness, dizziness, fatigue, headache, or weakness, numbness, pain, burning and tingling in the hands, fingers, feet, or toes, unsteadiness while walking, increased tripping while walking, or weakness when getting out of a chair or walking upstairs. Using nelarabine together with cytarabine liposomal may also increase the risk of side effects that affect your bone marrow function, resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells. You may be more likely to develop anemia, bleeding problems, or infections due to low blood cell counts. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Moderate

DAUNOrubicin liposomal cytarabine liposomal

Applies to: Vyxeos (cytarabine liposomal / daunorubicin liposomal) and Vyxeos (cytarabine liposomal / daunorubicin liposomal)

Using DAUNOrubicin liposomal together with cytarabine liposomal or other chemotherapy drugs may increase the risk of side effects, especially those that affect the bone marrow or gastrointestinal tract. You may experience a greater number or more severe side effects such as nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; loss of appetite; mouth sores; abdominal pain; delayed wound healing; and impaired bone marrow function resulting in low numbers of different types of blood cells. You may also be more likely to develop anemia, bleeding problems, or infections due to low blood cell counts. You should seek medical attention if you develop paleness, fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unusual bruising or bleeding, fever, chills, diarrhea, sore throat, muscle aches, shortness of breath, blood in phlegm, weight loss, red or inflamed skin, body sores, and pain or burning during urination. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use these medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
