MONITOR: The manufacturer reports that when ranibizumab intravitreal injection was used adjunctively with verteporfin photodynamic therapy, 12 of 105 patients (11%) developed serious intraocular inflammation. In 10 of the 12 patients, inflammation occurred when ranibizumab was administered 7 days (+/- 2 days) after verteporfin photodynamic therapy.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if ranibizumab is coadministered with verteporfin photodynamic therapy.
