Moderate

rosuvastatin maribavir

Applies to: rosuvastatin and Livtencity (maribavir)

MONITOR: Coadministration with maribavir may increase the plasma concentrations of rosuvastatin, possibly leading to signs and symptoms of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. The proposed mechanism is decreased rosuvastatin clearance due to maribavir-mediated inhibition of the breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) transporter. Clinical data for other BCRP substrates are lacking.

MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised when maribavir is used concurrently with rosuvastatin. Patients should be closely monitored for rosuvastatin-related adverse reactions, particularly myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Advise patients to promptly report unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by malaise or fever.
