Interactions between Infanate DHA and Odevixibat
1 drug interaction and 6 additional warnings found for the following 2 drugs:
- Infanate DHA (multivitamin, prenatal)
- odevixibat
Drug interactions
Moderate drug interactions
Moderate:
multivitamins, prenatal odevixibat
Applies to: Infanate DHA (multivitamin, prenatal) and odevixibat
Monitor
Odevixibat may affect absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (FSV) including vitamin A, D, E, and K. In clinical studies, new onset or worsening of existing FSV deficiency was reported in 5% of placebo-treated patients, and in 16% of odevixibat-treated 120 mcg/kg/day patients. However, none of the odevixibat-treated 40 mcg/kg/day patients had new onset or worsening of existing FSV deficiency.
Management
Clinical and laboratory monitoring of FSV levels is recommended prior to and during treatment with odevixibat. Monitor INR (for vitamin K) and serum vitamins A, D, and E, and supplement if a deficiency is observed. Odevixibat should be discontinued if FSV deficiency persists or worsens, or if bleeding occurs despite adequate FSV supplementation.

Food/lifestyle interactions
Moderate food/lifestyle interactions
Moderate:
multivitamins, prenatal Food/Lifestyle
Applies to: Infanate DHA (multivitamin, prenatal)
Adjust dosing interval
Concomitant use of some oral medications may reduce the bioavailability of orally administered iron, and vice versa. Food taken in conjunction with oral iron supplements may reduce the bioavailability of the iron. However, in many patients intolerable gastrointestinal side effects occur necessitating administration with food.
Management
Ideally, iron products should be taken on an empty stomach (i.e., at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals), but if this is not possible, administer with meals and monitor the patient more closely for a subtherapeutic effect. Some studies suggest administration of iron with ascorbic acid may enhance bioavailability. In addition, administration of oral iron products and some oral medications should be separated whenever the bioavailability of either agent may be decreased. Consult the product labeling for specific separation times and monitor clinical responses as appropriate.

Disease interactions
4 potential interactions Applies to: 4 conditions, including Vitamin D Deficiency, Vitamin A Deficiency, Vitamin K Deficiency, and Cirrhosis.
Cirrhosis
Major:
odevixibat
Odevixibat has a major potential interaction with Cirrhosis.
Ileal bile acid transporters, including odevixibat, are contraindicated in patients with prior or active hepatic decompensation events. The efficacy and safety of odevixibat in patients with clinically significant portal hypertension and in patients with decompensated cirrhosis have not been established. Monitor these patients more frequently and discontinue treatment if hepatic decompensation occurs.
Vitamin A Deficiency
Moderate:
odevixibat
Odevixibat has a moderate potential interaction with Vitamin A Deficiency.
Odevixibat may adversely affect absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (FSV). FSV include vitamin A, D, E, and K (measured using INR levels). Patients with progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis and arteriohepatic dysplasia can have FSV deficiency at baseline and frequently need supplementing with FSV.
Vitamin D Deficiency
Moderate:
odevixibat
Odevixibat has a moderate potential interaction with Vitamin D Deficiency.
Vitamin K Deficiency
Moderate:
odevixibat
Odevixibat has a moderate potential interaction with Vitamin K Deficiency.
