Minor

methylene blue flortaucipir F-18

Applies to: Urolene Blue (methylene blue) and flortaucipir F 18

Flortaucipir F-18 has been reported to bind with low nanomolar affinity to monoamine oxidase-A (MAO-A) and monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) in vitro. In vivo, flortaucipir F-18 has differential uptake in neocortical areas containing aggregated tau protein. Flortaucipir F-18 positron emission tomography (PET) signal was slightly reduced in vivo by rasagiline, a MAO-B inhibitor, in low tau, high MAO-B areas of the brain such as the nucleus accumbens, putamen, and caudate. However, according to the flortaucipir F-18 manufacturer, there is little potential for MAO binding to affect flortaucipir F-18 scan interpretation in neocortical areas. It is not known if other MAO inhibitors (MAOIs) or agents with MAOI activity may interact.

Drug Interaction Classification

These classifications are only a guideline. The relevance of a particular drug interaction to a specific individual is difficult to determine. Always consult your healthcare provider before starting or stopping any medication.
Major Highly clinically significant. Avoid combinations; the risk of the interaction outweighs the benefit.
Moderate Moderately clinically significant. Usually avoid combinations; use it only under special circumstances.
Minor Minimally clinically significant. Minimize risk; assess risk and consider an alternative drug, take steps to circumvent the interaction risk and/or institute a monitoring plan.
Unknown No interaction information available.
