Drug Interactions between esomeprazole and vandetanib
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- esomeprazole
- vandetanib
Interactions between your drugs
esomeprazole vandetanib
Applies to: esomeprazole and vandetanib
The use of vandetanib with proton pump inhibitors may theoretically reduce its gastrointestinal absorption. Vandetanib exhibits pH-dependent solubility, with increased solubility at lower pH. The clinical significance is unknown. In healthy subjects, no clinically significant changes in the Cmax and AUC of vandetanib occurred, after coadministration of a single dose of vandetanib with five daily doses of omeprazole, or after coadministration of a single dose of vandetanib and two doses of ranitidine 12 hours apart. Dose adjustments are not required when vandetanib is administered with omeprazole or ranitidine.

Drug and food interactions
esomeprazole food
Applies to: esomeprazole
ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Food may interfere with the absorption of esomeprazole. The manufacturer reports that the area under the concentration-time curve for esomeprazole following a single 40 mg dose was 33% to 53% lower when administered after food intake as opposed to during fasting conditions.
MANAGEMENT: Esomeprazole should be taken at least one hour before meals. When administered to patients receiving continuous enteral nutrition, some experts recommend that the tube feeding should be interrupted for at least 1 hour before and 1 hour after the dose of esomeprazole is given.
