Drug interactions between clonidine and doxazosin
Interactions between your drugs
Applies to: clonidine and doxazosin
Talk to your doctor before using cloNIDine together with doxazosin. Combining these medications may cause excessive slowing of your heart rate that can lead to serious or life-threatening cardiac complications. In addition, there is evidence to suggest that medications like doxazosin may reduce the effectiveness of cloNIDine in lowering blood pressure, although some data do not support this. Contact your doctor if you develop dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
