- Ceftin (cefuroxime)
Interactions between your drugs
Applies to: Ceftin (cefuroxime) and omeprazole
Using cefuroxime together with omeprazole is not recommended. By reducing stomach acid, omeprazole can decrease the absorption and blood levels of cefuroxime and make the medication less effective against infections. You may need to stop taking omeprazole while you are being treated with cefuroxime, or your doctor may want to prescribe a different antibiotic. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
