- Benemid (probenecid)
- cefpodoxime
Interactions between your drugs
probenecid cefpodoxime
Applies to: Benemid (probenecid) and cefpodoxime
Probenecid may increase the blood levels of cefpodoxime. This can increase the risk and/or severity of side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and kidney problems, especially if you are already receiving high dosages of cefpodoxime or if you are elderly or have preexisting kidney problems. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the interaction, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
cefpodoxime food
Applies to: cefpodoxime
Food can enhance the levels of cefpodoxime tablets in your body. Take the cefpodoxime tablets with food to increase absorption by the body. The cefpodoxime suspension can be taken with or without food. You should take cefpodoxime at the same time each day.
