lidocaine topical BCG vaccine

Applies to: Lidotran (lidocaine topical) and bcg vaccine

Topical lidocaine has bactericidal and antiviral properties when used in concentrations above 0.5%. Clinical studies evaluating the impact of topical lidocaine on intradermal vaccinations are unavailable. However, the efficacy of live vaccines administered intradermally (e.g., BCG vaccine) may be diminished when used concomitantly with topical lidocaine formulations that are applied directly over the site of vaccine administration.
