Using azithromycin together with lactobacillus acidophilus may decrease the effects of lactobacillus acidophilus when these medications are taken at the same time. To prevent or minimize the interaction, lactobacillus acidophilus should be administered at least 1 to 2 hours before or after azithromycin. Contact your doctor if you have any concerns. Your doctor may be able to prescribe alternatives that do not interact. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
