Applies to: Anectine Flo-Pack (succinylcholine) and fosphenytoin

MONITOR: Chronic administration of anticonvulsants, including phenytoin and/or carbamazepine may prolong the effects of succinylcholine. The mechanism may be related to anticonvulsant-induced up-regulation of acetylcholine receptors.

MANAGEMENT: Close observation for reduced or prolonged succinylcholine effect is recommended if this drug must be used in a patient receiving chronic anticonvulsant therapy.
