Drug Interactions between amlodipine / benazepril and aspirin / chlorpheniramine / phenylpropanolamine
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- amlodipine/benazepril
- aspirin/chlorpheniramine/phenylpropanolamine
Interactions between your drugs
aspirin amLODIPine
Applies to: aspirin / chlorpheniramine / phenylpropanolamine and amlodipine / benazepril
Before using aspirin, tell your doctor if you also use amLODIPine. The combination may cause your blood pressure to increase. You may need a dose adjustment or your blood pressure checked more often. Also, if you are already taking the combination and stop taking aspirin, your blood pressure may decrease. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
aspirin benazepril
Applies to: aspirin / chlorpheniramine / phenylpropanolamine and amlodipine / benazepril
Before taking aspirin, tell your doctor if you also use benazepril. You may need dose adjustments or special tests in order to safely take both medications together. If you are receiving therapy with this combination you should check your blood pressure and may need your kidney function monitored. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using your medications without first talking to your doctor.
amLODIPine benazepril
Applies to: amlodipine / benazepril and amlodipine / benazepril
Information for this minor interaction is available on the professional version.
Drug and food interactions
chlorpheniramine food
Applies to: aspirin / chlorpheniramine / phenylpropanolamine
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of chlorpheniramine such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with chlorpheniramine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of chlorpheniramine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns.
benazepril food
Applies to: amlodipine / benazepril
It is recommended that if you are taking benazepril you should be advised to avoid moderately high or high potassium dietary intake. This can cause high levels of potassium in your blood. Do not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements while taking benazepril, unless your doctor has told you to.
phenylpropanolamine food
Applies to: aspirin / chlorpheniramine / phenylpropanolamine
Using phenylpropanolamine with alcohol can increase the risk of cardiovascular side effects such as increased heart rate, chest pain, or blood pressure changes. In addition, you may also be more likely to experience nervous system side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, depression, and difficulty concentrating. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with phenylpropanolamine. Do not use more than the recommended dose of phenylpropanolamine, and avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medication affects you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medication without first talking to your doctor.
aspirin food
Applies to: aspirin / chlorpheniramine / phenylpropanolamine
Ask your doctor before using aspirin together with ethanol. Do not drink alcohol while taking aspirin. Alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding caused by aspirin. Call your doctor at once if you have symptoms of bleeding in your stomach or intestines. This includes black, bloody, or tarry stools, or coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
amLODIPine food
Applies to: amlodipine / benazepril
AmLODIPine and ethanol may have additive effects in lowering your blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. These side effects are most likely to be seen at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or when treatment is restarted after an interruption. Let your doctor know if you develop these symptoms and they do not go away after a few days or they become troublesome. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you, and use caution when getting up from a sitting or lying position. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

MONITOR: Coadministration of two or more sympathomimetic agents may increase the risk of adverse effects such as nervousness, irritability, and increased heart rate. Central nervous system (CNS) stimulants, particularly amphetamines, can potentiate the adrenergic response to vasopressors and other sympathomimetic agents. Additive increases in blood pressure and heart rate may occur due to enhanced peripheral sympathetic activity.
MANAGEMENT: Caution is advised if two or more sympathomimetic agents are coadministered. Pulse and blood pressure should be closely monitored.
