Drug Interactions between Aczone and tafenoquine
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- Aczone (dapsone topical)
- tafenoquine
Interactions between your drugs
dapsone topical tafenoquine
Applies to: Aczone (dapsone topical) and tafenoquine
MONITOR: Coadministration of oral or topical dapsone with other agents associated with methemoglobinemia may have additive effects and theoretically increase the risk of drug-induced methemoglobinemia. Oral and topical dapsone have been associated with methemoglobinemia, and the risk is increased in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency or congenital or idiopathic methemoglobinemia.
MANAGEMENT: Concurrent use of oral or topical dapsone with other methemoglobinemia-inducing medications should be followed with monitoring for signs and symptoms of methemoglobinemia (e.g., cyanosis, hypoxia).

Drug and food interactions
tafenoquine food
Applies to: tafenoquine
ADJUST DOSING INTERVAL: Food enhances the oral bioavailability of tafenoquine. According to the manufacturer, tafenoquine peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) increased by 31% and 41%, respectively, when administered as an investigational capsule formulation with a high-calorie, high-fat meal (approximately 1000 calories; 15% protein, 25% carbohydrate, 60% fat) relative to the fasted state.
MANAGEMENT: Tafenoquine should be administered with food.
