Amitriptyline - I have gone from 100mg of amitriptyline to 150mgs?

How long does it take the extra 50mg to kick in. I have been on these med for at least 3 years and it made me whole again. I am experiencing depression again, that is the reason for the the extra 50mg.

I had been on amitriptyline for three years, for chronic nerve pain in my shoulder.

I started off on just one tablet at night just to numb the pain and to help me sleep. My partner noticed a few months later that, in her words "you have changed, you're not the man I met."
