Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I am 66 years old. I had my first Reclast infusion in December 2020. The first week was met with a severe migraine that lasted 7 full days. As soon as that went away, the bone pain came. My shoulders, ribs, hips, and legs felt like they were breaking. I cried when trying to get out of bed or up out of a chair. Two weeks ago, the burning started. Felt like my bones were burning from the inside, & it was painful to use my hands. This is on top of my bones still feeling like they are breaking. This past week, the tremors started. At this point, it's getting harder to fight off the depression. I was a very active person. Side effects are getting worse. I fear this medicine will never get out of my bones, or that it's already caused permanent damage. Reclast has destroyed the past 6 months of my life, & my body. Does anyone have a timeline they can give me, for how long it took to get out of your body, where you had the side effects 6 months or longer?"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had Reclast infusion 4 weeks ago. Felt fine for the first week and then got lower back, hip, groin and thigh pain. Pain is getting worse by the day. I was told by 3 Doctors that I needed Reclast because I have 50% bone loss due to Chemo and Radiation. When I questioned side effects all Doctors told me it rare. I took a chance and I am miserable."

Aclasta (zoledronic acid) "I had aclasta 10 days ago and had a quite a severe reaction where my body ached terribly all over and I could barely walk for 24 hours. The next 2 days I was left with my body feeling dull pain all over. Since the infusion I’ve had the worst pain in my thoracic area like I have a knife stabbing me and it won’t budge. I had an X-ray no broken rib. Had a massage nothing will fix it. So hard sleeping. I had no idea I’d be left like this."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had the Recast infusion back in March 2019. I have experienced more bone pain than I did prior to the infusion. Still in pain. The day after I had the infusion I had to go to the ER due to higher than normal blood pressure. 196/102. Headache etc. is this normal to still be in pain, and fatigued?"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Am 73 years old, have been using reclast injections once a year for 7 or more years, last bone density test showed good improvement, had a slight soreness the first time, and have zero side effects since. Am going in today for another test. I guess we all tolerate different things, I take no other medications whatsoever. But for me this seems to be working."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I had the Reclast infusion on April 4th and 12 hours later I had severe chills (shaking so bad I couldn't close my mouth to take my temp), fever. Lasted for 6 hours. Then I was sick to my stomach for the next day with severe pain in legs (hard to get up from a chair) and my hands (hurt to write). Then I started with "cold" sinus/bronchial infection which sent me to urgent care for inhaler and cough medicine. Back to Doctor after 5 days for antibiotics and I'm still sick one month later. Now jaw pain on left side and my teeth hurt. I will NEVER take reclast EVER again. I hope you won't either!!!"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Received dose at 11am, by 10pm that night I had fever, chills, severe pain in back. I was extremely ill for 3 days, such a severe headache I couldn't open my eyes. A week later my hands suddenly swelled to the point I could not use them. Now nearly 3 months later I am in physical therapy to try to regain the strength in my legs. Other side effects were less severe, such as jaw pain for a few weeks. I would never ever take this medicine again."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "55 year old with osteoporosis (genetic predisposition as well as early menopause). Had my first infusion yesterday. Did prep with lots of water and Tylenol (hence up peeing throughout the night). Today I am sore, stiff, headache and fatigued. But all manageable with Tylenol and Advil (taken 2 hours apart). Deep breaths hurt and took an almost 3 hour nap today (at least during pandemic I don’t have to work)."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I have been in pain for over 6 months after Reclast. Picking up a tiny cup of water sends pain to my back. I am okay if resting. Pain in all joints and bones. I am 82. Never a bit of pain prior to this infusion. I have never fallen as an adult. I was never told by doctor to drink water a day prior. I would like to join a lawsuit if there is one."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Had my infusion yesterday. I drank a few glasses of water in the morning and took an ibuprofen during the treatment. I had expected the '3 days of flu like symptoms' and even scheduled sick time to be prepared. Zero side-effects, no aches or pains, nothing...but still taking the time off so I can have fun. My stats: 50, 100#, just finished 2-years of Forteo, I take 1200mg Calcium a day plus a RX Vitamin D each month."

Aclasta (zoledronic acid) "Had an Aclasta infusion in June 2018 and I am still having adverse reactions. These are severe shivers, sweats, extreme tiredness and severe itching, loss of appetite and nausea. Immediately after the infusion I was unable to get out of bed for three days and had severe backaches. I have read that it can take up to 24 months to get it out of your system. I have gone passed that time frame and still suffering. I am so over it and will NEVER EVER have another infusion."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "After being reassured by 2 physicians, one an MD, another Oncologists: that this option for infusion would offset any negative side effects for the benefit would receive. Couldn't have been more untrue in my case. After infusion bedridden for 3 days with limited movement due to extremely painful joints. Been 8 days now & I'm just now getting back on my feet but weak. Please get multiple opinions from all before considering this medication. Never again."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Had my first infusion Nov 15,2019. I started getting the flu like symptoms about 8 hours later. Thought I was the end of me. I shook for 2 days with chills. Couldn’t pick my arm up to get the Tylenol off my nightstand, 5 hours later I finally got them and every blanket I owned. It hurt so much. Then started with throw up and diarrhea. It’s been 4 days and I’m still in bed beyond tired. Not sure how to rate the medicine cuz it hasn’t started to work yet. But the side effects are really bad. Make sure you have lots of water..Gatorade and Tylenol or pain meds..you’ll need them"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I am 72, and my last DEXA scan showed that my bone density was now osteoporosis. My choices were Reclast or Prolia. I had taken Actonel and Fosamax for a number of years and was taken off of Fosamax due to acid reflux. I hadn't had any osteoporosis medication for the past four years. After discussing this with my doctor, I decided to try Reclast first. I was mostly concerned with side effects reported from each drug, so I was anxious about getting the treatment. I read the reviews and followed the advice from others about drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and taking Tylenol. The nurse who administered my medication said that she had been giving this med for years now, and very few patients had reported any problems, and most of those were muscle pain that lasted a few days. I am happy to report that I have had no side effects from Reclast. I will find out in a year if my bone density improves, but do not be afraid of this med if you need to take it."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "Follow up on initial reclast first taken 3/ 2022. I was never informed of any prep to do beforehand, I suffered violent severe side effects for 8 days immediately after the reclast infusion I was so ill I was unable to call 911 and get myself to a hospital. I was completely incapacitated with severe bone pain, rolling head-to-toe cramps, extreme flu-like symptoms, chills, fevers, and a blinding headache that lasted for 8 days. Now one year after I am still experiencing severe and extreme bone pain that many times causes me to be unable to lift my arms and has impacted my quality of life. Additionally, I suffered another compression fracture with zero exertion in June of 2022. I also require several implants and refuse to potentially destroy my jaw. Reclast side effects outweigh any possible benefits. I will be 57 yrs old this year, and prior to 2022 had no knowledge I had osteoporosis. I pray I have no further issues!"

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "My first IV treatment was given on a Friday morning. By that night, I was running a fever of 103. I had 4 heavy blankets piled on me. I took Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but nothing brought my fever down below 101. I was shaking to my bones. Then, I started feeling pain in every bone of my body. The pain was worst in my back and shoulders. Even on my fourth day, my shoulders and back are still very painful. All I was told about Reclast was to drink a lot of water and take Tylenol as needed. I even told my husband that he might have to bring me to the emergency room because I was deathly ill. I wish I would have read these comments before I was given this therapy. I felt like every bone in my body was being attacked by this drug. Thankfully, I'm done for a year."

Reclast (zoledronic acid) "I took Reclast injections for 4 years. My Doctor was unaware that Reclast could potentially cause jaw bone issues. Well, my dentist in taking xrays found I had jaw osteoporosis as a result of taking Reclast injections. I took the injections because my family physician thought this would help me from going into osteoporosis. Instead it took calcium from my jaw and put it in my other bones. Please know that while Reclast which is a zoledronic acid is a product of the bisphosphonate group. I am happy for those who benefited from the drug Reclast but my experience didn't hasn't worked out."
