For Bowel Preparation "I don’t suggest chugging it, but it helped get it down. Do not breathe thru your nose or you taste it more. (This especially helped with dose 2!) When they say shake until dissolve, DO IT! (Don’t skimp on the shaking because you’re half awake the next morning.) Dose 1, chugged it & chased it with the required 16 ounces of water but I also swished with a little kool-aid. (Don’t use red, I am told it will freak the doctors out later!) Mine didn’t start working until about an hour & 45 minutes in. That might be because I had a large dinner the night before. (Poor ideas & regret abound at my house.) Dude. This works. (I found my car keys from 1987, jk, but trust me it gets things moving.) slept off & on between trips to poo-town. Up at 630 for more of this stuff. Chugged it to but through my groggy stupor I didn’t realize it didn’t quite dissolve. Insert regret. Gagged but got through. Now I’m writing this from the potty. You can do this!!"

For Bowel Preparation "I just took the first envelope but barely got it down. Threw up on last swallow. That is the worst tasting stuff I have ever had! I am dreading taking the second dose. It is supposed to be worse, per my husband. Already feel like throwing up again! I will never use this again!"

For Bowel Preparation "Though effective, the side effects of Plenvu were too unpleasant. Although I started my liquid diet 48 hours prior to procedure, I had a total of 16 explosive bowel movements , 8 the day before the procedure after dose one and 8 the second day till the time of procedure. Also in the morning I was throwing up and having diarrhea at the same time. Compared to other preps I have taken in the past Prévu was much harder on my body. I will avoid taking it next time I will have to do a colonoscopy."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my third colonoscopy and I was told Plenvu was better than the product I used before (an inexpensive over the counter product). First, I don’t understand why I had to pay $132 for a product, at best, the same as the stuff that costs $8-$10. Second, I found it really hard to get down (couldn’t finish the second dose) and found the “expulsion” not nearly as thorough. I’m not sure if it was the prep or the procedure, but felt pretty awful for a few days versus being up and about almost immediately after the previous ones. As far as I can tell, there is no advantage to match the extra cost and for me, a really awful experience. I will not use again."

For Bowel Preparation "This was my 5th colonoscopy and Plenvu was the worst bowel prep I've ever had to take. The taste was awful, salty sweet. The first dose didn't make me nauseous but the second did. I was vomiting all night besides the bowel movements and didn't get any sleep. I also had chills. I followed the directions exactly. I will never take this stuff again."

For Bowel Preparation "I was glad I only had to drink half as much prep as I did ten years ago but the nausea, vomiting and chills were unexpected side effects. I know there is some really bright person who can develop a better prep that doesn’t include drinking horrible liquids that cause such nausea and vomiting and a general feeling of being ill. I am not exaggerating when I say this prep taste horrible and the thick salty sweet is almost impossible to drink. I hope it works and I can have the procedure tomorrow morning. If not, I won’t repeat this prep again and will ask for the older stuff that was bad but didn’t make me sick."

For Bowel Preparation "This is my second colonoscopy and my first time using this bowel prep. Took the first dose around 5pm and it was a horrible “mango” flavor but managed to get it down. Stayed on the pot and was pretty confident I was cleared out by 11pm. Second dose at 5am tasted so bad it made me throw up a small amount several times afterwards. Managed to get it down finally which resulted in severe stomach pain and cramps up until the time of my procedure. The procedure itself went well but a full day later my stomach is still tender and sore from the bowel prep cramps the second dose gave me. The pain and gas appears to be dissipating but I would not recommend this product to anyone. I don’t remember the name of the bowel prep I used last time but it was cheaper and didn’t have as many horrible side effects."

For Bowel Preparation "First time for a colonoscopy, had PLENVU prescribed and took it, but nothing to compare it to. Dose 1 the night before was like drinking fruity sea water but I got it all down. In less than half an hour, the floodgates opened— success! It works!! (No “false alarms” with this stuff so be near the potty;-)). Felt nauseous with it but figured it’s all part of the process. Slept fine that night, next morning on to dose 2. Flashback to last dose. After finishing dose 2 (and during) nausea started again but knew that was normal. Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be) projectile vomiting of dose 2 commenced, luckily into the toilet. A LOT. But some must have made its way through my system as the projectile “squirts” commenced as well. Sure felt better after the vomiting, though!! Called my doc’s office after this vomiting of dose 2 episode and was told don’t worry, just keep pushing fluids. So I did. No problem with colonoscopy being done. And that was it!!"

For Bowel Preparation "I was prescribed Plenvu prep for an upcoming colonoscopy, which was today. The first dose is flavored with artificial mango flavor and. It was the most vile thing I'd ever tasted. I managed to get the majority of it down. There was 1 ounce I couldn't finish. Before I was done I had explosive diarrhea. I didn't make it to the bathroom. From here on out it was pure liquid that ran through me. I took the second dose 6 hours later and it was even worse than the first dose. I could only finish 14 of the 16 ounces. Again, it just ran right through me. I'd eaten extremely light Monday through Wednesday and I think that helped tremendously. Shortly after the second dose my head began to throb. I'd been hydrating before and during the first dose and struggled mightily with the second. All I could smell and taste was the disgusting fruit punch flavor. I finally dozed off around 1am. Woke up at 5am and had passed more liquid in my sleep."

For Bowel Preparation "Terrible product. The gatorade and Miralax prep was much better without the side effects. Plenvu was awful tasting and caused severe nausea. The nausea lasted into the second day after the colonoscopy was completed. I plan to tell the doctor that I do not want to use this product again."

I suffer from gastritis and this gave me such a nausea that I can't help but wonder why I was sent this poison... it is effective since I keep going to the bathroom... but drinking the solution was absolutely excruciating!!"

For Bowel Preparation "My first colonoscopy I'm 52 so it was time. Took the Plenvu with 16 oz of water at 2pm day before my procedure. The taste was horrible -- like someone mixed melted gummi bears with ocean water and some pepper too boot. I could barely get it down. 30 minutes later a fire hose of hot liquid lava flushed out of my ass. Every time I thought I was done and could finally flush and attempt to stand up, another round of open faucet drainage came from my butthole. I was not aware the anus could flush like that, but it can. I was dreading the 2nd dose which was 10pm (night before procedure). I was right to have dread. 2nd dosage evoked an immediate gag reflex -- as if my body yelled, "I've seen this horror flick before and I'm not going to watch it again!" How I didn't throw up I don't know -- perhaps it's because all my bodily fluids left 10 hours earlier. With second dosage, I was on toilet well past midnight, fearing I would permanently ruin my mattress if I laid down."

For Bowel Preparation "I used Suprep for my last colonoscopy and was pleased. The Dr talked me into Plenvu claiming it was a better product. Well he was wrong. Suprep tastes better and is more effective, with less time spent on the toilet. I don't see how they claim the dose is less volume, both are 16ozs. Do yourself a favor and ask for Suprep over Plenvu."

For Bowel Preparation "I gave this a 10 for effectiveness because it is unbelievably effective and powerful. That is the only good thing I can say. I have so far used the first part of this prep. Within less than 10 minutes I was running to bathroom. Sat for over an hour before I could safely get up. The cramps and stomach pain were terrible. The taste is horrible. I used a straw to try avoiding the taste and still gagged with every drink. Still trying not to throw up. I would never recommend this stuff."

For Bowel Preparation "I'm 26, this is my 1st colonoscopy. I have nothing to compare the prep to. Dose 1 is FOUL. Gag with every sip, even when chased with ice water. Projectile vomit twice, one halfway and one when done. I had to lay down and shut my eyes because of the nausea. I had a migraine all day, so that probably contributed. I was bloated, but did not have a BM until I started dose 2. Whoever suggested a hot bath is a SAINT, because I felt so awful after dose 1. I didn't know how to cope, the bath helps. Dose 2 is much more tolerable. Less powder, less thick. Flavor is better. Still very salty, and needs an ice water chaser. The liquid BM's have been really frequent since starting dose 2. It's been hard to drink in between. However, there is no ab pain involved. It is amazing compared to the awful pain I have had, that has driven me to get this done. All-in-all, I was scared to death about dose 2 because of how awful dose 1 was. But, that made dose 2 seem kinder."

For Bowel Preparation "Diagnosed in 2001 with diverticulitis, and being past a certain age ( now need to screen for colon cancer) I have much experience with these procedures, that being said Plenvu is worst GI prep ever! Go-Lytely is much better, works more efficiently. Heck anything else is better( Miralax or even magnesium citrate). This stuff could make a maggot gag. Diarrhea achieved, but vomiting is not necessary for a colonoscopy. Caused needless suffering....Never Again!"

For Bowel Preparation "The WORST bowel prep I have ever tried. I’ve had two colonoscopies before with no problems. Back on my feet the next day. Not this time!! Managed Dose 1 but could not keep down Dose 2. Violent vomiting. Had to cancel the colonoscopy. Two days later, I can’t eat; still have horrible cramping and watery stools. I’m pretty tough but this has tipped me over the edge. And without having the actual procedure!! Hate to think what state I’d be in if I had Dose 2!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS!!"

For Bowel Preparation "This was my first colonoscopy and I will admit that after reading some of these reviews, I was worried, but overall, had a good experience with Plenvu. I followed the exact instructions that my doctor gave me for prep. The taste was not too bad. Dose two was harder for me than dose one and I did feel a bit nauseous, but it passed. Worked great and I had no abdominal cramps or pain. I took my first does at 4 pm and the second at 8 pm for an 8:40 am colonoscopy the following day. I did not eat any food at all the day before the procedure and just drank the clear liquids suggested. I would recommend this prep. I am going to ask for some anti nausea medication next time, but will request Plenvu again for my prep."

For Bowel Preparation "I will not use this product again. First dose of Plenvu was unbearable, took me an hour to finish and thought I would vomit afterwards. Second dose just as bad but so much nausea I’m unable to finish entire jar. I get the reason we all elect to have the colonoscopy, but there had to be a better way! They can send a man to the moon, can’t they make this process better??? Just hope I get through the night without throwing up."

For Bowel Preparation "This was the most disgusting thing I have ever drank in my life. I've had 3 colonoscopies with no problem before but I could barely drink the first dose and although the second one tasted a teeny bit better, I threw everything up and had to have an enema instead. If I had none this beforehand I never would have used it. It was really gross"

For Bowel Preparation "Ok its 2:30 am and I am working on part 2 of Plenvu bowel prep. So here is my experience. Part 1 tastes awful. You should never make a medication drink taste like mango! NEVER! But I got it down. Was on the pot for 4 hours. Woke up at 2 am for part 2. Taste is a little better. Fruit punch. Still hard to get down. Will update when I am finished. Lol Ok get over half way done with part 2 and threw it all up. Still feel nauseous."

For Bowel Preparation "I followed the directions and had no problems. The taste wasn’t bad (I chilled it prior to use, used a straw and took sips of water between swigs). I’ve certainly tasted worse things in my life. Doctor said excellent prep. First time colonoscopy for me so I don’t have a basis for comparison for other prep products. While not enjoyable, I didn’t find the prep process that unpleasant. I look at it as a necessary 2 day inconvenience to help me stay healthy. Three sessile polyps (flat polyps) were found and removed; well worth it! I didn’t eat anything solid for 24 hours prior to starting the prep and think that helped."

For Bowel Preparation "I took this in preferance to Klean Prep as the quantity to drink was much less. This was the only difference. I took Motillium on the tongue before both doses which stopped nausea. However the taste and thick consistency made this very hard to swallow and only great resolve got me through. My restricted low fibre diet was such an help. As my consultant said what goes in has to come out! Following first dose I had two movements only and felt well. Same after morning dose - which was worse than the first - but about 4 watery movements and just a little cramping and that was it. However the only way I could get this down was the lesser quantity. I could not ever take it again and very thankfully I won't have to as I'll be 76 in 10 years time and no tests after 75! Great money to be made by someone who can come up with a bearable solution."

For Bowel Preparation "This med tastes nasty, but I was able to finish both the doses. After my 1st dose at 5:30 pm, colon cleansing started in 30 mins and lasted for 3 hours for every 5-10 mins. I took my 2nd dose at 2:30 am, cleansing lasted for about 4 hours for every 3-5 mins. The best way to drink this is to use a straw and flush it with apple juice after every sip. Though the med description says you can't have with anything, the nurse told me it is totally fine to drink it with clear juice or clear Gatorade. I was able to finish both the doses in 10 mins. I had 20 oz water after finishing the med and apple juice. After the 2nd dose, I had the yellow watery bowel movement for 4 hours. I also had a terrible headache after the 2nd dose and chills with both doses which went away once the med got out of my system. The procedure went well and the doc was able to see the colon clearly. This med is doable with apple juice which flushes away the bitter after taste."

For Bowel Preparation "Dose 1 of Plenvu was started around 5pm. Mixed with 16oz of water you have approximately 30 minutes to finish the dose. You will need it! This stuff is thick, and the taste is undesirable. I choked it down within the 30 minutes and was nauseated for about 2 hours. It took about 45 minutes for the first bowel movement, and the abdominal pain during that time was excruciating. On the plus side, it cleared me out well. Once you start, stay near a bathroom because you will certainly be using it. Dose 2 consisted of the last 2 dose packs with another 16oz of water. Still hard to choke down, and lots of nausea. Moral of the story is that it tastes awful, causes abdominal pain and nausea, but it does what it is supposed to."
