For Nasal Congestion "I have been using this and other nasal sprays for 45 years. Yes 45 years. I've had no serious side effects. I'd rather hang by my thumbs than have a plugged up nose. I have tried the cortisone sprays and others. They didn't work. I need this medicine and hope to continue using it. Its the only thing that helps my plugged up head. Even oral meds don't help. The one good med that even came close to helping me was Drixoral which has been off the market for along time now."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I was able to open the bottle a few times, then I could not get it open again. Now in trying to get the bottle open with a knife and with a box cutter and with plyers, I have damaged the top so badly it will never work again. What a terribly designed bottle. I have to give it a low rating because of ease of use. BTW Afrin works very well if you can get it out of the bottle."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I had the worst time trying to get the cap off. Its child proof and adult proof. I had to end up cutting the cap off. This my first time using. It seem to be working and I just used it less than 5 minutes ago. Well one side of my nostrils is open."

Nostrilla (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I have been using NOSTRILLA since the 80s, through all of the formula changes. This last "New Formula Fast Relief" formula change added Polyethylene glycol, and with the addition of this my hair has started to fall out again and the area around my nose is very itchy. This did not happen with the "Original Formula Fast Relief". I wish they would go back to the most current "Original" formula!"

For Nasal Congestion "I had a nasal scope approximately 3 months ago and Afrin was used prior to the procedure. I immediately felt like I couldn't breathe and my throat and nose burned and tingled. I completely lost my voice for 6 days. It gradually came back, but it still fades in and out. If I try to carry on even a short conversation, my voice starts fading and gets raspy and hoarse. I've had a round of antibiotics, but I am continuing to have these symptoms. I have also lost the range in my voice for singing or yelling. What next?"

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "Works but I guess I used it too often and it made my nose bleed badly. The child proof cap is terribly designed and obviously not tested before hand. I had to use pliers to open the bottle and that still took time. I'm looking for another brand because of this."

Nostrilla (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "This is by far the BEST nose spray I have ever used. Anytime I get a stuffed nose, Nostrilla knocks the snot right out of me! I will always use Nostrilla and I will recommend it to anyone for a stuffy nose because of a cold or sinuses! Its AMAZING."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "Here's how Bayer can solve the cap "problem": say "squeeze" instead of "push". Saying "push" is confusing when the spray mechanism allows for vertical movement of the cap, because I'm sure that, like me, you all tried pushing it down and then twisting. No. Don't. Just squeeze the red bit and then twist. It comes off immediately. While this is slightly confusing, I figured it out in about, I dunno, 15 seconds? Step 1 when something isn't working: try something else. With that out of the way, here's why this product really sucks: even a single use as directed will have you suffering INTENSE rebound congestion after 10-12 hours and you will be forced to either spray another dose or suffer several hours of torment. Absolute garbage product."

For Nasal Congestion "I have not been able to sleep at night for years due to nasal congestion, I started using this oxymetazoline nasal spray medicine and I have sleep two nights in a row, word can not say how happy I am. Instuctions on the box 2 or 3 sprays each side twice a day, I only use one spray each side and only once a day"

For Nasal Congestion "The oxymetazoline is the same for across all brands, but I used to find the Afrin pump superior: it fit my hand, and it was just the right size. Now the six bottles I just got in the mail have redesigned pumps and I HATE the new design. I can no longer take it apart to clean, and these suckers get stuff IN them all the time which I prefer not to ingest. Disgusting, and no longer a reason to buy Afrin at its inflated price."

For Nasal Congestion "I have been using generic Afrin, oxymetazoline from the dollar tree store for a number of years. I have been trying to switch to Fluticasone propionate unsuccessfully. Tonight, using both of these together caused my heart to start racing and pounding. So, I will need to switch to something else. And it looks like it can cause prostate enlargement in men? Resulting in unnecessary biopsies. I did notice a change in packaging recently. I have to squeeze the cap where it is marked and the turn counter clockwise. Then the pump handle has to be turned counterclockwise to spray."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "Purchased on the blind, only to read that I should not take it for more than three days. OK, fine, but what do you do with the remaining spray? At any rate, it worked like a placebo, no relief whatsoever. Want to pay for nothing? Rush out and stock up."

Nostrilla (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "Nostrillla nasal spray pump is very useful for nasal congestion, but the bottle it comes in has become increasingly difficult to use. When Nostrilla changed their spray bottle in early 2016, it took a bit of maneuvering to open, but I managed. Now this new sprayer bottle from early 2019 is impossible for me to open. I purchased the newest Afrin spray and their new sprayer bottle is just a tad harder to open than last year's model, but I manage it. Why are these people making sprayer bottles like breaking into Fort Knox? Now I may have to switch to Afrin in the near future, because I can't open the newest Nostrilla bottle."

Afrin NoDrip Extra Moisturizing (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I suffer from severe nasal/sinus congestion. This happens every night and I am unable to get to sleep even if I have one nostril open. This is the only product I have found that works on a consistently on a daily basis and I only use it at night. I consulted with an ENT Dr. and he gave me his approval as long as it was used only once per day."

For Nasal Congestion "Clears up all nasal congestion within 3 minutes. Lasts for about 6 hours (though I have the "12 hour" version). However, I know it can cause rebound congestion if I use it too long. I only let myself use it for one day when I have a cold, though I would love to use it for three or four days."

12 Hour Nasal (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "Afrin works SO well if you can get the cap off the bottle. I cannot buy this product again unless the cap can be changed as it is infuriating to have to spend up to an hour trying to get it off so that the fluid can be dispensed. I see from other “reviews”that I am not in any way hamfisted as the bulk of complaints are from similarly annoyed users ( or non users as it turns out). I am VERY annoyed that I was unable to use this product and have wasted money paying for something which is not usable; retired people just do NOT have money to waste on a product that requires a full set of tools just to get to the contents."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I'm really surprised at how many people complain about the cap. I bought 2 bottle (because my whole family uses it) and got the tape and red cap off without a hitch. I just followed the picture on the side of the box....any way I love this product. Good luck everyone!"

For Nasal Congestion "After I use it a few times it began to smell like Mildew. I tossed one out and bought another and it did the same thing. Feels like I’m spraying mold up my nose. Afrin works but you can’t use it daily or it loses its effectiveness."

For Nasal Congestion "Not quite sure why there is so much dissatisfaction with the new design....I was frustrated for about 30 seconds until I realized how easy it is to use. There are several different brands and generics that have the exact same concentrate of the effective drug. But I think, with the reasoning behind the new child-safety precautions, most if not all of them will continue with the new design. Anyway, effective as always, no matter what brand I buy."

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "This stuff works like a charm! I got Covid and it brought in sinus pressure and congestion. My sister is a pharmacist and told me to grab some Afrin. Little did I know, Afrin would be a game changer. It completely opened up my stuffy nose and for 8-10 hours per dose. It allows you to breathe and it helped with pressure in my ears. I highly recommend!"

For Nasal Congestion "Neil-med SinuFrin is a lifesaver for me. I've been using 1 squirt in each nostril just before going to bed for many years. This is all I need to be able to easily breathe. There are only two reasons I stop for now. 1) Nasal passages are clear. (not very often) 2) Nasal passages few raw, the spray hurts, and I sneeze a lot. This happen at most once a year. My Doctor tells me I shouldn't use this, but the stuff he keep telling me to use doesn't work. My biggest concern and something I haven't been able to find out is what are the long term use issues with this type of spray?"

12 Hour Nasal Decongestant Spray (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "This is very effective IF you can get the cover off. Its USE MUST BE STOPPED AFTER 2 OR 3 DAYS to avoid rebound congestion side effect. Worked well for me 4 to 6 hrs not 12 hrs. note: the maximum time for its use is far under the minimum time category on the next question"

Afrin (oxymetazoline) for Nasal Congestion "I like the product, but the new cap is terrible. It took me a half an hour to get it off. Finally had to use a knife. Tell the whiz kids that come up with these ideas that there are a lot of us out there that don't have the strength of Hercules and are Rheumatoid Arthritis people. We can't get the bottles open."

For Nasal Congestion "I have used this on and off through the years, and it really helps with nasal congestion due to sinus infections, which I tend to get easily if I end up getting any sort of upper respiratory infection. It completely clears my sinuses. For those complaining of rebound congestion: to help combat this, try not to use this for more than 3 days. If the rebound congestion is severe, you can wean yourself off this nasal spray! Continue to use it, but instead of using it in both nostrils, use it only in one nostril until that side of the sinus cavity is no longer congested, and then you can stop using it completely. This method was recommended by my primary doctor when I had been using this for months because I couldn't breathe without using it every day. It does work, but you have to be patient with your body as it gets used to not having this medicine anymore. I'm using the generic and found the packaging and cap easy to remove."
